I have watched some movies like The Conjuring and others some good some not so good. I don't find that they scare me in any way. I did find some thing on youtube that did and also a recording played on the radio. Seemed to reach a different part of me.

Paranormal Warning
by Cold Steel ini've heard some weird stories coming from jws about the paranormal.
i know about the warnings about items that come from unbelievers -- those don't interest me as much.
what i am interested in are actual experiences in stories of the paranormal you've heard or experienced yourself.

This generation will by no means pass away
by Darryl ingood morning i hope everyone is having a wonderful day.
there has been a lot of talk about the "new light" concerning the generation teaching.
it's been a major part of the prophecy concerning the last days and of course since jws are the only ones able to decipher and understand prophecy it is of great importance to get this main prophecy right.

This generation will by no means pass away
I think these quotes from the 1960's are interesting with regard to the belief at the time and our faith.
Watchtower September 1st 1969 page 532.
'Jehovah has made many promises of things yet to occur, One may hope that such things will come to pass, but such expression may only be a whimsical wish, not real faith. Faith is more than just an expectation. It is expectation that is assured to such a degree that it is able to support , uphold and guarantee that what is hoped for will become a reality. This is the meaning of hypostasis, a word common in ancient papyrus business documents in reference to guarantees placed on the transactions.
...Substantially the words [hy.po’sta.sis and e’leg.khos] mean that faith gives to things future, which as yet are only hoped for, all the reality of actual present existence,; and irresistibly convinces us of the reality of things unseen and brings us into their presence.” The Expositor’s Greek Testament, Vol.IV page 352.Watchtower July 15th 1961 page 423
‘And since faith is also “the assured expectation of things hoped for,” it follows that we must also have knowledge of what are the things we may and should hope for. Again, God’s Word provides us with the needed knowledge. It assures us that paradisiac conditions will be restored to this earth, and that on a world-wide scale, and that this restoration work can be expected to begin within the present generation.’ -

I have argued with several JWs who are now being trained to deny the org ever said the end in 75, what is your approach?
Usually I show them the book God's Eternal Purpose Now Triumphing for Man's Good (1974 WTB&TS) Page 51 there is the subheading "Evening of the Seventh Creative Day begins 4026 B.C.E."
and page 131 paragraph 5 where it states,
"The first half or 'evening' period of God's seventh creative 'day' was now closing, 3,500 years from the creation of Adam and Eve. The morning of this creative 'day' was due to begin at 526 B.C.E."
This was under the heading, "Morning of the seventh Creative day begins 526 B.C.E."
and explain that from this I understand that the seventh creative day began in 4026 BCE and is 7000 year in length. Then show page 186 where it says
"With all his earthly seed destroyed at Har-Magedon," it then asks the question "Are the original serpent and his invisible demonic seed to be left on the loose in the vicinity of our earth down to which they have been ousted from heaven? No!"
"By removing the Serpent and his demons from the nieghborhood of the earth and hurling them into the abyss and sealing them up there, bound as with chains for the next thousand years. Revelation 20:1-3 pictures this, not as a part of the war at Har-magedon, but as a follow up of that war." (Bold mine)and then page 190 says,
"...God's seventh creative day will end up blessed, sacred, sanctified. Jehovah having blessed that day six thousand years ago..."
Explaining that 6000 years from 4026 takes you to the autumn of 1975 with the last thousand years of the devil being abyssed after Har-megedon.
This explains about the year zero
In the August 15 1968 Watchtower in the Article Why are you looking forward to 1975?
page 499
Well, for one thing, if 4026 is added to 1968 (allowing for the lack of a zero year between C.E. and B.C.E ) one gets a total of 5,993 years, come this autumn from Adam's creation. That means that, in the fall of the year 1975, a little over seven years from now..., it will be 6,000 years since the creation of Adam,
Then I say that in 1974 this was the lastest information that I believe we had, I was keeping up with my spiritual food and acting in accordance with it in pioneering.
In the September 1974 KM in the letter talking of the Divine Purpose district Assembly and this book it says,
'Have you finished reading these exciting new publications? If not, we urge you to do so without delay. Don't put this off until the material is covered in the series of public talks that are to be given. The information these books contain you need to know now.'
In the October KM 1974 there was the feature on the back page Presenting the Good News, with the "Eternal Purpose Book. Which as a pioneer I was doing and remember a fellow pioneer telling me how he had shared this good news with his study.

Recent mistakes of the Governing Body contributing to the decline of JWs
by slimboyfat inthey have made so many strategical mistakes it's hard to keep track.
some changes within the last decade or so that are contributing to declining numbers of jws:.
1. elimination of book study groups, the most informal, enjoyable and sociable of the jw meetings, contributed to loss of sense of community among jws.. 2. policy of consolidating kingdom halls.

were the book study groups attendance better than other meetings? I don't know.
I always disliked that meeting the most and when I heard it was gone I wished they had done it sooner.
Some of the years I was a JW we had the book study at the KH, I preferred it there than in a home.

What's your passion???
by Faith after Deception inyesterday, i was feeling very blue.
this is quite unusual for me, as i tend to be quite an upbeat, positive person, so spells of sadness or depression take me by surprise and are a real shock to the system.
you know, i don’t believe in “putting on a face” or pretending to be ok; this “fake it ’til you make it” malarkey has never been something i’ve liked.

What the Org Teaches #4 There Are Two Ways to Get Sins Wiped Out
by The Searcher in#4 there are two ways to get sins wiped outthe following five scriptures lay the foundation stone of christianity, namely, that christ died for people's sins.
virtually every christian denomination on earth accepts these bible statements without question: .
(matthew 26:28) "....this means my ‘blood of the covenant,’ which is to be poured out in behalf of many for forgiveness of sins.

in Romans 6:7 I think the Greek word translates as justified or similar.
in receiving the payment of death isn't this just from Gods view especially as Witnesses do not believe in hell?

I built a car with doors that opened out of Lego and also won a Lego set in a competition with something I made. In the 1960s
I also liked the Narnia books the teacher read to us in primary school cause they reminded me of 'the truth'

How the Need for An Elder to "Preside Over His Household in a Fine Manner" Forces Kids Out
by TMS intwelve years ago, i submitted this comment to the jwd board, relating to the practice of disfellowshipping young people from the congregation:.
"i am angry at the way jehovah's witnesses treat their most precious endowment; their young, developing, stumbling, exasperating, questioning, experimenting, growing offspring.. at the very most urgent time in their young lives; when they need the most reassurance, nurturing, patience, understanding and forgiveness, witness parents, under the direction of their congregation elders and governing body, toss thousands of these young ones out into the cold, cruel world, allowing them to virtually self-destruct.. many of these castaways are still in their teens.. there is no excuse, biblical, human, parental or otherwise to shut off all the guidance resources these young ones have ever known.
the human wreckage of this disgusting practice is astronomical.

Brother & Sister-in-Law Return to Kingdom Hall After Two Decades, Quickly Get Stumbled
by TMS init was a mild surprise, learning that a brother and sister-in-law had began re-associating with jehovah's witnesses after at least 25 years of being away.
the couple, of hispanic ethnicity, are in their early 60's, with their five children all grown and independent.
the family had been considered nominal jws, infrequently attending meetings, rarely in field service, but using the annual convention as their family vacation.

At the couple's second or third Kingdom Hall meeting since coming back to the organization, our brother-in-law learned about a special work day at the Kingdom Hall the following Saturday, to mow grass and trim bushes. He showed up on Saturday ready for work, but was informed that those duties could only be performed by approved JWs "in good standing."
I was a little late to the meeting once and went to get a chair from the stack to sit at the back and a brother, , snatched it from my hands and said i had no authority to get a chair as i wasn't a MS he was. So he took it and placed it where I wanted to sit. I had to laugh
