If a JW Came To Your Door How Would You Handle It?

jehovah's witnesses have never come to my door but they have come to my girlfriends door.

i have coached her as to what to say or ask but it appears that they always seem to come when she's not there.

.....just curious would you get into it with a jehovah's witness at your door especially if it was someone you did not know?.

Do they know what 7.5 billion dead bodies look like?

in their sick and twisted bubble that they live in, the jehovahs witnesses clearly have no idea about the logistical nightmare of disposing of 7.5 billion corpses.. when i heard an elder once say that it will be a joy to clear away the wicked from the earth, he actually had a smile on his face.. can they even begin to imagine what 7.5 billion dead men, women, children & babies looks like?.

I thought it the tribulation/Armageddon would be like the flood, Noah was shut up in the Ark shouldn't think he saw or herd much with the animal noises and everything. In 70AD the beleavers had left Jerusalem.

My father was always on about antimatter in his answers at the meetings.

This may be a crazy question, but it popped in my head and won't leave. . So I gotta ask. . .

ok, this probably applies to most faith systems that believe in any sort of afterlife, but i would like to know what sort of explanation the jw's would come up with for this little problem, you know, after armageddon on earthly paradise.

sorry if i sound dumb, but it's been nagging at me for a few weeks and have to ask.. so, what if a young married jw couple are living their life, waiting for the big a, knowing they will be together in the earthly paradise, then very sadly one of them dies.

from what i know, if a jw dies, that's it.

Two things come to my mind. One. From the way I understood it the dead are not conscious of anything. To them time doesn't exist. So I conclude the resurrection would seem to be instant almost as if there was no break in time.

So my friend who died in bed with his wife could wake up in the resurrection and find it felt like any other night but this morning was very different. Strangely, disappointingly, his marriage is over and his wife is remarried forever. He may feel a sense of betrayal, he may need a trained counsellor.

Two. Before 1975 when I was young I remember having a fear of dying and the resurrection. With the end so so close coming back in a resurrection and living for eternity never being able to fall in love and marry was a horrible thought.

What steps did you take to free yourself from the cult? mentally or physically?

first i ignored all of the elders phone calls to send my recommendation letter to my new congregation, truth is i had already started my fade and moved across town and didn't have a new congregation.

i deleted all jw friends on facebook.

i also threw away all of my public talks recorded on cd, all literature, even my book bag and my bible.

I wrote to the society and phoned the elders asking them to come round which they finally did 9 months after I wrote my letter. We had a discussion. I asked them If they wanted to disfellowship me they declined.

hi guys , i know i was never a favorite here and haven't posted in awhile ... question .

what do you think of the new understanding of , " this generation " they seem to go in circles on this one big time , once 1914 generation was almost gone they said they didn't know what it meant and now in the new publication the generation includes the second generation after 1914 .... i agree they don't know what they are talking about and this is just another control move .

any comments ?.

Although my father didn't live to see the Great Tribulation beginning although he baptised believing it had begun and he lies in the ground like his brother who wasn't a JW awaiting a hoped for resurrection I think he was happy being a Witness.

He agreeded with the man who studied the books with him that it was the best way of life.

He liked regularity. He was very regular. Always up at the same time and doing the same thing. He was regular in his meeting attendance and field service. He had two regular pioneer children. Being regular was important to him I think and being a JW offered him more regularity.

From any perspective

Maybe from my parents perspective who accepted the 'truth' in the late 1950's. The evidence of the preaching work and the cry of here is the Bridegroom and the fulfilling of the ten virgins parable as part of the 'sign' with the growth of the organization and preaching work on a worldwide scale lead them to accept 1914 as the end of the Gentile times and in so doing accepting the calculation irrespective of whether it made sense from an historians viewpoint.

I think its estimated there are about 400 or so people alive over the age of 110.

some were humble, but their were a few pompous asses who thought they were gods gift to the org and acted like they were ceo's of a fortune 500 company...

I cant think of one i didn't like. My father who was an elder wasn't keen on one or two. Maybe it was different if you were an elder.

Did leaving the "Org" ruin scary movies for you?

many 'scary' movies base their 'jumps' on a belief in the supernatural, demons etc.

since i have left that all behind, ther aren't many 'scary' movies that even make me uncomfortable let alone scared.

I never watched horror movies when I was a witness. Since I have left I have seen a few. Most make me laugh. Some I found boring. One or two I've enjoyed and found reasonable scary.
