re-evaluating time and tying lose ends can be complex.

i ask the above because of my personal experience.

as a born-in i was naive, socially inept and had never really thought deeply about anything.. i was also unable to accept arguments based upon reason and facts.. just like a child.. it was only after freeing myself from the mind-control of the jw cult that i educated myself and matured as a person to being (almost) an adult.. jw's attitudes and their inability to debate in any meaningful way, (they could start by actually listening),means they have not grown up..

I don't know that I would use the term 'hang out'. The witness that I work with lives thousands of miles away but we have interesting conversations.

Yes, I think it is probably quite 'rare' my situation but I don't think it is unique.

When it comes to what I do or don't do, my children attended school with other witnesses and they attended birthday parties, etc, I think it varies from area to area. Most of the things you list are not things I do anyway.

jehovah's witnesses have had to revise their chronology and various doctrinal interpretations due to events and scholarly corrections.

but the one teaching where they have been consistently ahead of the curve is the importance of jehovah's name.. .

i'm going to run through a (necessarily selective) timeline of jw events and scholarly publications that demonstrate the phenomenal success of this teaching in the last days.

As it stands the record of JWs refusing to kill each other as other religions do is impressive.

but I think that this has been shown on the thread to be that they do not join in wars for various reasons, like not supporting the 'defense efforts of Christendom' not because of pacifism.

If JW's controlled the world or large parts of it and there were 'apostates' I could imagine there maybe a religious war as the smaller group, the apostates tried to protect themselves from the effects of the 'shunning' at the minimum and the 'stonings' at the worst.

maybe similar to things we have seen throughout history.

so that's my thoughts and I'm not that impressed

and I am on speaking terms with friends and elders .

I do some work with a witness and I find it mixed some try to ignore me when they see me I think but I had elders that treated me like that when I was a witness.

no elder or servant ever invited us to have a meal at their house in years I was regular publisher but others did.

I stopped meeting attendance after discussing it with the elders so they were aware of how I felt.

fading to me is gradually disappearing and not saying how you feel

the elders came twice to visit me. The first time was with an accusation of apostasy it didn't go well for them.

I had discussions with our friends and elders I wrote a letter to the Watchtower with my concerns and I phoned the elders several times and asked them to visit me to discuss the letter. We eventually had the meeting I was not disfellowshipped. I had stopped meeting attendance and field service. I don't consider that fading.
