San Onofre is scary. I've surfed right in front of those reactors. The water is warm there, but I've never glowed after surfing there. Recent observations confirm that the area is also loaded with great white sharks, although I am not aware of any attacks having occurred there. A news story within the last year showed a guy go out on a paddleboard there, armed with a pole that had a gocam camera on it. He went out to where everyone was surfing, and put the camera in the water. Within 5 minutes, he had video of two great whites, both around 10 feet long.
Given the prevalence of white sharks there, I'm surprised there are no attacks. It could be that while swimming in radioactive water, the sharks lose appetite.
