The title of this forum should be changed to Judas' Witnesses.net to accurately reflect it's makeup.
by Theocratic Sedition ini've been browsing here for some time now and i've read the erroneous arguments supporting 587, the petty feelings over the un, blah blah blah.
this is a community of disgruntled people telling each other what they want to hear.
you've all essentially created your own truth, tickling your own ears.

If any JW kids had AC/DC or KISS albums, they had to hide them. At our congregation, we were told that "AC/DC" and "KISS" were acronyms for "anti-christ devil's children" and "knights in Satan's service," respectively.

OK, I have to give the WTBTS credit for turning me on to the Sex Pistols. In the 1970s, when the Sex Pistols first became a big deal, the WTBTS got wind of them, and there was a "news" item in either the WT or the Awake discussing the horrible new phenomenon of punk rock. Singing about love like the hippies did was bad enough, but this new music trend sang about hate! Our congregation then had a special meeting on the subject, and a filmstrip with pictures of the Sex Pistols was shown.
I had the Sex Pistols "Never Mind the Bullocks, Here's the Sex Pistols" album the next day after that meeting. I went with my "worldy" friends to a record store and purchased it, and of course, hid it from my parents. I loved punk rock, the rebellious lyrics and angry tempo were very attractive to me at the time. I was a pissed off guy who had just experienced the 1975 farce and hated every minute of my time at the kingdom hall. It was a scary thing for me to stand up to my parents, and this god dang crazy music helped. For these reasons, the Sex Pistols will always be one of my favorite bands of all time!
Here's a classic from the Sex Pistols:

onacruise - Craig Mills 1952-2011
by Lady Lee ini was given the link to a bit of information regarding on old poster/moderator of this forum.
i was not sure of the validity of the information so have been trying to find out if it is true.. earlier today craig's estranged wife, kate, (bikerchic) confirmed that craig died at his home on aug 10, 2011.. i am sure that many people here remember craig's time here and how he went out of his way to offer support to posters, even calling them, to give whatever help he could as they adjusted to their post-jw lives.. i know many people here will grieve his loss.. --------------.
ps i tried posting this earlier but the computer i was working with would not allow the posts.

jgnat,
Thanks for bringing this to the top. I also recall Craig and enjoyed reading his posts. Kate, if you're reading this, I'm sorry for your loss, and hope things are going well for you and your family.

Went to the DC with my wife.... WHY OH WHY???
by Cinciguy74 inso, in a tit for tat agreement with my wife to do something i wanted to do, i agreed to go with my wife for saturday and sunday to the district convention.. for most of the day, i simply read other things, paying little attention to what was going on.
my wife could care less if i am paying attention, more that i am there to wrangle little ones who are being distruptive so she can listen.. but one of the things i did catch, was that they highlighted "four satanic teachings".. one of which was that "you need a higher education to succeed in this world".
so higher education is now satanic??

The only way I could sit through a DC is with lots of drugs. I'd need to be brain dead.

Fortunately, I met my wife in the "world," so we would never have this issue. I would never allow my kids to enter a kingdom hall, and would be willing to spend every penny I have in a courtroom to make sure it didn't happen.

Were You Ever Comfortable Going From House To House?
by minimus inbecause i was raised a witness, i don't think i was "uncomfortable" knocking on strangers' doors.
(weirdo).. but as i got older, i simply didn't want to bother anyone so i was at there door for no more than 30 seconds.
at the end i hated being there..

Born in, and hated every moment of being exploited as an unpaid slave, selling WT and Awake and books at doors.
It all came to a head in junior high school, when I came to a door that was opened by someoene I knew from school. I was so embarrassed that I could barely speak. He was a really nice guy who didn't say anytihng about it to anyone at my school. But after that, I refused to go out in field service and let Dad know that I'd rather deal with whatever physical punishment he was going to deliver than go out in field service. Instead of beating me, my father decided to back off.
That was the beginning of the end. About a year later, I was no longer attending meetings either.
