Are elders simply procedural scapegoats?
by Silent_Scream inthe watchtower constantly talks about elders doing everything "in love" and being reasonable and balanced, and not being masters over their brothers' faith (hypocritically).. but when elders receive specific direction from co and training from schools and letters, they go over mostly procedures, procedures, rules, how to obey the gb and if the friends dont like it, too bad because its from jah's organization.
and procedures.
so they are trained to go by the book, and if love can be shown, cool.

No real religion! We just need to be different than any and everyone else!
by Silent_Scream inthis must be a memo from a gb meeting:.
they say: jesus died on a cross we say: he died on a stake.
they show: jesus having long hair we show: him with short curly hair.

Should Men Tuck In Their Shirts?
by minimus ini was reading an article about how men should not tuck in their shirts if the shirt is worn as casual wear.. i often wear suits with a black tee shirt, tucked in.
i have some great cabana style shirts that are always worn over the belt.
if i'm playing some sport, i would never tuck in a tee shirt.. i looked online after i read the article and it seems some are very firm on their position...... and while we're at it, should men wear a belt with jeans or with dress slacks?.

WT: "Don't watch news items featuring witnesses!"
by cedars inhi everyone, yet another analysis of a recent watchtower i'm afraid.
this one's a little closer to home, as it concerns apostates.
yes - i'm referring to the forthcoming article "will you heed jehovah's clear warnings?

by Silent_Scream init has been said "the way to control people is to control information.
" it's very true in the jw org.
thats why on bible study sessions, people are usually excited to learn and see things in their bible they've never seen before!

You will love this logic.
by Slidin Fast ini was thinking about one of the dc talks and the ridiculous twist.. the premise of the talk was that we should avoid being "babylonish", how?
by not being slack in "our" dress and grooming.
the logic?.

Stephen Lett: "Pray for us to be faithful and discreet!"
by cedars inout of interest, i have just been scanning through the four latest available watchtower study articles (july thru october 2011) and in doing so i am reading them objectively for the first time.
i have been shocked, outraged and amazed by some of my findings.. as one example, take the article "a history-making meeting" from the august 15th watchtower, 2011. the article, beginning on page 18, discusses the 126th annual meeting of the watch tower bible and tract society, and begins with a summary of the opening talk by governing body member stephen lett.
it concludes the highlights of his talk in this way:.

BETHELITES - Whatever Became of?
by Black Man ini often times wonder what happened to certain bethelites that i ran around with during my 1990s tenure there.
while there are still a few left there, the greater majority of them aren't there for various reasons (marriage, disillusionment, left the borg, etc).
a couple of cats i wonder about - there was one brother who i believe was from kansas, who got his fingers cut off in a printing press.
