For Mankkeli and other apologists
by JeffT ini thought i'd throw this out here again after reading the post quoting the wt article about returning to god.
the problem with all such articles is, the governing body/watchtower/jw's are not god.
leaving a human organization is not leaving god, nor is going back to it returning to god.

N.Drew - I was speaking WTS lingo. anything in opposition to those 7 men in brooklyn is apostasy, no matter how much info yoiu actually ge from the Bible
Mary - I think GB should be a very top, and the faithful slave should be at very bottom. When Jesus asked "Who really is the faithful slave", he was asking according to WTS because since they have no say in anything, but supposedly they are put in charge, everyone is wondering, who really are they? lol.
and if theres a 70 year old anointed sister in the hall, she's under the authority of a 13 year old baptized brother.

No problem truthseeker
So much for a religion that bases EVERYTHING on God's Word, unlike every other religion.

mankkeli is a joke. He loves the GB and "food at the proper time" so much he scopes out apostate websites in which to feed us the meals he's eating. If that's what's available, starve me.

I don't think ANY of us here are inclined to believe that the Watchtower holds any grain of truth just because it SAYS it does. Just like none of us believe the Governing Body itself is god's "channel here on earth". If a child is a habitual liar, and then one day decides to tell the truth, how many people believe him? Boy who cried "Wolf", anyone?
Reminds me of a joke. There's 2 men. One ALWAYS lies, and one ALWAYS tell the truth. They both are standing before separate roads claiming theirs leads to everlasting peace and prosperity. You have Only 1 chance to ask a question to find out which one is the fake and which is genuine. What could you ask?
Asking "Which one is the real road?" would seem simple and obvious, but it would get you nowhere. Thats like asking religious leaders which religion is the true one. You can bet they would all choose theirs (either inclusively amongst others or exclusively).
A more fitting question would be "From which road have you come from?" That would FORCE the liar and honest one to point to the genuine road. Problem is, religious leaders are like the lying man and they believe their road is the genuine one. The word "organization" is not in the Bible neither supported by principle. But the leaders of such ones will always say "Come this way." Trickery, man.

Although i understand what is being said about the picture in the wallet illustration, without argument over semantics, it made sense to me. Every parable or illustration has small points which may be varied and seem unsuitable, for the point made, but idolatry is a practice that does not hold sustainable reasoning as to the practicality of it.
Also, there was a part entitled "Make God's Name Known as Full-Time Servants". Another guilt-trip ridden part. Pretty much, if you're not a pioneer, you suck. I love when they discuss the brother who is basically in a coma but still find time to pioneer. Or the sister with 14 kids at age 3 but can pioneer also. And the biggest slap in the face on parts like these is they normally interview the biggest frontin' pimps and hoes in the circuit. It's like they seek out the ones who everyone is asking why are they not df'd yet.

My experience has been completely different!
by Silent_Scream ini read a lot on threads where people are feeling like a lot of you feel like many are waking up to this garbage and starting to think.
let me give three examples:.
1) knowing the bible speaks of not saying a greeting to the anti-christ, wts applies that to all df'd people.

tec and Lisa - excellent points.
im thinking of simply mailing a letter of my stance to those whom are the closest to me and walking away. I feel like a hypocrite.

2 Day Circuit Assembly
by truthlover incan anyone out there tell me if the final talk by the do mentioned "marrying outside of the lord"?.
i ask this as the do mentioned that if jehovah were to ask a woman, why did you marry outside, and she had no answer, he would tell her she was disobedient.
then went on to give the spiel on singleness - of course, for a woman, not for a man, who has his choice of women to pick from.....those single should pioneer... .

We had that point made in talk at our assembly last weekend.
