Oh yes, and James Penton's book is very good as has already been mentioned.
Sorry if I have left any out. I think things have moved on a bit since I left the WBT$
i've never read any, so i'd like to know everyone's opinion..

Ron Rhodes did a very interesting and informative book entitled 'Reasoning from The Scriptures with the Jehovahs Witnesses'. If indeed it is possible to reason with them.
I do not have it now but I found it very helpful at the time.
Franz's books are the obvious starting point I suppose.
'Gentile Times Reconsidered' is interesting but I no longer feel that it is relevant because Jesus didn't show up in 1914 so to me the issue of when the Jewish temple was destroyed is of historical interest but little more.
Happy reading!
we had an elder that was hung up on mens haircuts he had a real thing about how short mens hair should be and even told one bro off for parting his hair down the middle.. even told one bro to shave off his sideburns.. a c.o who was paronoid about sound always telling the bro in charge off.. .
a d.o who orded the attendants to remove crying babys from assemblys on more than a few occations...hans hubler for those that know him..
We had an elder who was obsessed with the length of sisters skirts and their low-cut tops. It used to make me chuckle the way the sisters got round it by wearing long skirts with splits that were practically as long as the skirt itself.
Most of us came to the correct conclusion that this brother was sexually frustrated and didn't like to be reminded of it.

When the revolution comes, I want them to be the first to go.
dear friends:.
for years now after my exit from the wtbts i have searched for god.
as i have previously mentioned in other threads i looked into many other religions, including druidry, zen and tibetan buddhism (not really a religion), asatru, native american shamanism, kemetic orthodoxy, gnosticism and pandeism.
Personally, I think that all spiritual experiences are a delusion of the mind. I do not mean this as an insult. I can relate to your examination of Christianity and you are quite correct in that it makes no sense at all. How could it ever make sense?
All that hatred and revenge in the bible goes against every kind of sense. If it's all true, then I'll be happy to be the first to go.
this religion was started in ireland around the same time as the jw's were in the mid to late 1800's.
and is still alive today in europe and america.
my grandfather and his family were of this religion.
On the Ministry I once called on a very nice lady who had left the Plymouth Brethren to join the Baptist Church. She told me back then that I would make a good Christian as I was far too normal and open minded to be a JW. I took it as a compliment and I have to say, after a long conversation with her about cults and her struggle to escape from them, I never really viewed the Watchtower in the same way ever again.
Lady, if you're out there, I owe you a lot cos you got me thinking and sowed a seed in me that would come to provide a lucky escape.
my answer is yes.
what about you?.
He was VERY talented but I never understood why he was always grabbing his crotch and squeeling!
A sad loss which leaves people looking for someone to blame but maybe nobody is to blame.
i always cringed so hard when a "brother" or "sister" would make some overly heartfelt comment about jehovah-something, usually related to a personal experience of theirs, and get all teared up and/or start crying.. once this fringe dude that's been df'd twice now was giving a talk and kept having these long awkward pauses where he looked like he was real stressed out, then he would start up again, stutter, slip up, and repeat the process until he looked down and went "i, i just can't do this" and walked off the stage and left the hall.. it also made my spchincter pucker when a young person would give some super devotional comment on how much they love big j and whatnot, which would make the congregation all smile in their hearts and wag their heads in approval..
All the Ministry School nonsense about being a good speaker and so on as if it justifies and gives credibility to the lies and deceptive nature of the message.

'We're Jehovah's Witnesses
We speak out in fearlessness
Ours is the God of true prophecy
What he foretells comes to be'
That song made my ears bleed every time. True prophecy indeed. Ha!
since leaving the organization 8 years ago, there have been more significant changes in the actual, physical activities of the organization than occurred in all the 40 plus years i was 'in'.
bethel closings.
bethel layoffs.
Well, let's hope not or we will have nothing to talk about and nothing to hate. Well, except Tony Blair of course and a few other particularly nasty individuals.
