  this is a question to admin / longer members.. have you noticed a greater influx of membership here since the 'new lighttm' regarding the 'governing body' was revealed?.

  India Buys New Fighter Jets from Russia

  the wall street journal reports that india has again made a decision to buy 42 russian sukhoi su-30 mk1 fighter jets that will be assembled in india.

  additionally india will buy 71 m--17 v-5 helicopters.

  another deal was signed for russia to manufacture the ka and mi brand of helicopters in india .

  Yes hamsterbait, the UK does give far too much money away and it is bleeding us dry. We are being taken for a ride!

  The whole world knows it.

  Every time I travel abroad I have people telling me how 'naive' and 'gullible' the British are.

  We try to think the best of people and expect the same of them but sadly they do not always play by the rules.

  I know that the US is always trying to help struggling countries also but I do wonder how long it can all continue as many of these countries have tapped into our weakness (the Christian ideal) and know that they are on to a good thing.

  And they milk it!!!

  i know bethelites have signed a vow of poverty and recieve about $100 monthly stipends.

  however, when it comes to air travel, does the governing body of jehovah's witnesses aka watchtower society in new york state (gb 2.0) travel first class?

  what do you know about that?.

  i was in an used bookstore this weekend and saw a new world translation and some other society publications.

  this made me think, what did others do with their books?

  i gave mine to my mother, 22 years ago.

  Seriously, I think the whole point is that they DO NOT go back into circulation as we could then be responsible for mucking up other peoples lives.

  I decided to burn mine.

  One heck of a bonfire, but surprisingly hard to burn!!!

  For a long time I knew that for me personally common sense and reasoning were on a collision course with Watchtower lies and deception.

  When that happened I had to stop attending.

  As Oscar Wilde said on his death bed; "I can't stand this wall paper, one of us will have to go"

  A sense of humour to the end, that's the way to go!

  Horrible day

  i just had to come on here and vent - i'm having a horrible day.. firstly, had to sit through a horrible public talk about obedience to the "superior authorities" (whoever they decide that is this week) - all kinds of crazy stuff taking verses in romans way out of context.. then had to sit through that hideous watchtower defending david.

  one brother actually used the words "we want to follow in david's footsteps" - i was nearly ready to vomit.

  just a total gloss-over.

  Hey, I know literally loads of dubs who have just faded (I'm one of them) and after a while nobody cares what you do. I have even just recently had this conversation with elders asking why sister so and so is now living with a new man and is not disf'd. They simply tell me that when an individual has been inactive for some time it is not the congregations concern what they get up to. I know loads of ex dubs who get up to all manner of things. Many of us meet up and are very good friends.

  Seriously, if you fade without any fuss, don't give them any reason to think you are an 'apostate' which means biting your tongue, you will be fine.

  Have a little faith!

  Technically, I am still a JW and when I meet dubs I am treated as such. I just keep my opinions to myself. Its very frustrating because they can speak their mind when I cannot but I live with it. There are things in this life more valuable than making one's opinion known!

  I used to think life would be great if I could tell them where to get off but now, after all this time, I've come to realise that doing it my way is much more fun.

  Only tell people what you want them to know. I have always applied this principle since childhood and it is a safeguard against those who would do us harm.

  1. my husband's time is finite, it's wasted on spouses arguing over money, sex or family mattters with stupid home visits.. .

  i hate people's constant open hand for money, it's the weak individuals asking others to pull their weight.

  my family worked extra hours instead of begging the strong members for district assembly money, cat food for seven cats or tiny little rag-a-muffins weiner dogs.. .

  This thread is yet more proof that the Watchtower organization is nothing more than another harmful, mind controling cult which ultimately ruins lives.

  I pity you as I have been through the whole experience myself, not unlike yours.

  The day we, as a family, made a pile of 4 wheelbarrow loads of Watchtower books collected over a thirty year period and put a match to it was an incredible thing. I wish you could have seen it!

  We turned our back to the fire and wiped our feet vowing never to go back.

  You should remove yourself from it completely and your husband will respect you for standing up for your human rights.

  I also have squandered valuable time on wastrel JW's who are not worth the time of day.

  We once helped this sponging family move three times in 18 months because they would not pay a removal company. At the hall they would treat us like dirt.

  Your husband is wasting his precious time-don't let him waste yours!!!
