  Are you now ashamed of how gullible you were as a JW?

  now that you realise how idiotic some of the jw beliefs are/were, do you feel ashamed of how gullible you were to believe them?.

  if anything my past as an adult jw makes me understand how easily manipulated people are by the people and environment around them.

  and that even intelligent people can be influenced beyond what is rational..

  Yes, I guess I do feel ashamed of being so gullible. Worst of all, I let my children go along with it but at least they were happy when we left-better than a trip to Disney World I would imagine!

  Anyway, yes, second paragraph: agree with you entirely. It has nothing to do with intelligence so none of us must doubt ourselves. I know people who are still following the WT who are seemingly very inteligent. Perhaps they all are.

  I think of it this way; a mule is supposedly an animal of fairly low intelligence yet is very difficult to manipulate or train. Hence the saying 'stubborn mule, digging its heels in'.

  A dog, on the other hand, supposedly highly intelligent, is very easy to manipulate the behaviour of, not stubborn but always eager to please its master for the reward of 'food at the proper time'.

  those obviously aren't my words, they are from the latest study edition of the watchtower (april 15th, 2013) page 11.. .

  it's nice to know that, not only are we "mentally diseased" - we are also now "gangrenous.

  " since the society seems to enjoy using medical terms to insult us, are there any bets what the next published insult will be?

  Why is the New World Translation inaccurate/not reliable?

  This brings to mind The Ambassadors by Hans Holbein where the subject rests his arm against the globe thus symbolizing his dominance over worldly affairs (trade and commerce).

  Never mind resting your arm against the world, those WT guys are sitting on it. How audacious can you get!

  Yes, it really does show you just how, and to what level they view their own authority.

  Think I'd rather be ruled by these guys. At least their picture only contains one dodgy image (skull), unlike WT material which contains many.

  They are obviously suffering from an extreme case of verbal diarrhoea, alhough it usually passes after a few days and they've been suffering with it for over a hundred years now.

  I think they should see a doctor quite soon before it becomes more serious.

  I know they are following their father, CT Russell, but its no excuse to say that diarrhoea runs in your genes.

  so i am pretty sure some long timers here, as well as franz, essentially predicted the next "new light" by simply picking out the inconsistant non-sustainable beliefs that had expiration dates as to freshness.. if i am not mistaken, franz said this was the generation teaching at the time he wrote his book.. so......what do you guys think is next?

  Just a continued, growing sense of disillusionment I would imagine.

  I think it will die a very, very slow death.

  It may never die completely in the literal sense so don't hold your breath.

  A far worse punishment for the WT is the majority of people's dismissive stance toward it.

  Nobody likes being ignored or not being taken seriously. It destroys the soul.

  Presuming they have one!

  the wall street journal reports that india has again made a decision to buy 42 russian sukhoi su-30 mk1 fighter jets that will be assembled in india.

  additionally india will buy 71 m--17 v-5 helicopters.

  another deal was signed for russia to manufacture the ka and mi brand of helicopters in india .

  Yes hamsterbait, the UK does give far too much money away and it is bleeding us dry. We are being taken for a ride!

  The whole world knows it.

  Every time I travel abroad I have people telling me how 'naive' and 'gullible' the British are.

  We try to think the best of people and expect the same of them but sadly they do not always play by the rules.

  I know that the US is always trying to help struggling countries also but I do wonder how long it can all continue as many of these countries have tapped into our weakness (the Christian ideal) and know that they are on to a good thing.

  however, when it comes to air travel, does the governing body of jehovah's witnesses aka watchtower society in new york state (gb 2.0) travel first class?

  what do you know about that?.

  Well, they are a bunch of first class tossers so why on earth shouldn't they travel first class???
