Gentile Times Reconsidered! - $16
Third Edition, revised and expanded, by
Carl Olof Jonnson
The idea that the "Gentile Times"
referred to at Luke 21:24 form a period
of 2,520 years has led to speculation and
disappointment among many who
expected Christ's return during the past
two centuries. How did this belief
originate and develop? This book presents
the historical evidence, along with a
remarkably extensive study of ancient
Assyrian and Babylonian records which
date the destruction of Jerusalem by
Babylonian conqueror Nebuchadnezzar,
as well as an enlightening study of the
Biblical prophecies regarding the "70
years" of Babylonian domination of
Judah. 368 pages, paperback. GT-22
Sign of the Last Days - $15
by Carl Olof Jonsson
Is Christ's return identified by
unprecendented war, famine, pestilence,
earthquakes, crime and other calamities?
Evidence that this claim is based on a
misunderstanding of Christ's own words;
accompanied by historical facts
demonstrating how surprisingly little the
20th century has differed in these areas
from past centuries. 288 pages,
paperback. CJS-16 -

Is this legal?
by IronGland inif a former jw decided to put on a suit and tie and go door to door trying to place old wt magazines and books they had laying around, and asking for a small donation, but using the proceeds to buy beer, is that illegal in any way?
i figure they at least owe me a beer.edited by - irongland on 4 november 2002 21:28:23.

Why not just sell them to a collector of WT Lit - like Randy (dogpatch), freeminds, or Duane Magnani of Winess, Inc ?
That would save you the time and effort of going door to door. But the best part - it would be totally legal!!

Do "Born-Again Christians" lie on JW's to put them in a bad light?
by booker-t ini was reading a book on early church fathers and early christian doctrines.
i could not put the book down.
i noticed that some of the early church fathers "denounced" war frowned upon celebrating holidays and also "birthdays" some of their arguments sounded exactly like jw's and if you did not know you would have thought you were talking to some jw's.

booker-t,
Is English your first language??
I was wondering because I find this posting quite hard to read becuse it uses so many unfamiliar phrases.

Ok TreeFrog, I've found just the right thread for you today:
Let's play 'Devils Advocate'. .

Quote:
"Try to convince me that the doctrines of the 'Governing Body' and the 'Fathful and Discreet Slave Class' as taught by Jehovahs Witnesses cannot possibly be correct. I will try to defend these beliefs as best as I can - or at least as best as I used to defend them some years ago."
Post Away, TreeFrog, and ENJOY yourself!!

Looking for advice
by PenSue ini am not a jw but i am a business manager and one of my employees is.
i want to be able to understand her better and be able to respect her choices but i struggle with certain issues such as sending holiday cards to company clients.
she won't do so because of her beliefs and the clients cannot be neglected so this of course creates added work to those who are already very busy.. i am unsure of when to separate religion from business and am confused about why it's ok for her to take the vacation days designated for christmas, yet she can't cater to the needs of the business.. i do not ask things of her that fall outside the scope of her position and because of the lengths we go through to provide concierge service for our clients, i find that her religion is an out for her participation.

Hi PenSue!
Why not send out a calendar at the end of the year while making no reference to any holiday season. I doubt that the JW employee would have a problem sending a 'Thank you for your business' type of letter that contained a simple calendar.
Stick around and read some more posts from JWD.

Treefrog,
I know you mean well, but . . .
You must realize that most of these people are EX-jw's - meaning that they have already left or are leaving that cult with very huge wounds that need much healing. Most of the people here are very nice to "newbies", but you have come in here with 'your guns drawn, ready to shoot them down'. I suggest you stop posting for a while and read the following threads. That will give you a 'feel' for what this site really is.
Examples of threads started by first-timers to this site:
New here, would like to say hello

Depressed and about to lose it

You sound like you have read a few "counter-cult" books and now you think that you are 'prepared' to make every jw run from their religion. BTW, just what books HAVE you been reading??
When you finish reading the three above threads then I would advise you to spend some time reading threads in these forums:

Scandals & Coverups

Happy reading!!
