  I think ten minutes was a conservative estimate. He went on and on and on. He lost his place in his notes a few times and I had the feeling that he forgot that he was praying and not giving a talk.

  My Saturday Experience @ NY District Convention

  my congregation (soon to be 'ex'-congregation) is assigned to veteran's stadium (that will be held next week and then again on the last weekend of july.

  i have made it my resolve to make this year, 2002, my final district convention.

  since it will be my last one, i decided not to go to the hot-a$$ veteran's stadium!

  I don't remember hearing the point about having authorities used the khall. I may have just zoned out during that specific sentence. BTW, I had a terrible time following the drama. Was it me, or was the drama terribly disjointed.

  Heya Mike, We wer just a few sections over, 333 I think. If I would have known you were there I would have looked for your red shirt.
  I had a chance to read through the new book. Besides the missing chapters that have been discussed on this board did you note the reference to 1914 without any supporting referrences?

  at the time i went to school jehovahs witnesses were still discouraged from higher education.

  the teachers on the primary school advised me to go follow pre-university education.

  but totally in line with the watchtower i followed

  Congratulations!!!!! Education is a lifelong experience. I made a commitment about 12 years ago that I would always be going to school and have not regretted the decision. My employer has paid most of my education. In regards to the lack of income, look at it long term. Over a lifetime college graduates ultimately earns more. You may be ten years behind the rest of the students, that just means you need to live an extra ten years.

  hawkaw, you may be right on the date of the "new light" on the zero year. I believe it was the "Let God be True" book. But the first mention of 607 is just inserted in the publication without any explaination of how the Wt scholars determined that there was a justification for the chage.

  BOE = Body of Elders
  15 minute rule = allowing elderly/infermed to report a min of 15 minutes to be counted as a publisher. Prior to 15 min rule you were not allowed to report fractions of hours.

  This topic started with an explaination of why to believe in 607BCE. However, I think we need our topic author to address a far
  more critical point....

  607 was not the first date to be used. But rather, it was 606 BCE. It was not until the 50s or 60s that someone in the society realized that there was no Zero year.

  Please use the same logic to explain what logic Russell used to determine the date 606 BCE without knowing that there was no Zero year. Also, explain the logic in changing the date fro 606 to 607. If you read the older publications you will never see an explaination. The date was simply changed.

  from wt aug 1, 2002 page 13 quote:.

  representing the royal priesthood are appointed elders, who serve in position of resposibility in congregations of jehovah 's people around the earth" (paragraph 18, page 13).

  by using the term "representing" do they try to change the heavenly hope in the future ?

  I noticed this slight change in the Wt, although I had a different take on it. As the annointed get older and older, it becomes more difficult to pin the title of FDS class. They can't chew their own food, let alone providing food for some one else.

  So it makes sense for the society to redefine who is the FDS. It is clear that they are running out of time. What better group than the elders to fill this void. At least with this group they don't have to explain why a sister is part of the FDS but is not allowed to provide any spiritual input.
