They always made the anouncement that there should be no lettering on tee-shirts. If you came to a site with lettering or advertisements on your shirt you would be asked to turn it in-side-out.
Also, the one Elder always enjoyed making an anouncement about sisters and "low-cut" tee-shirts. Evidently that was a no-no. I only went to one quick build, and was on garbage detail. Not much fun. Was hoping I could be part of the "tee-shirt" police squad.

Johnny, That was the full quote. The thing that struck me about the description is that it could apply to most of the pubs doing street witnessing. I pass through Grand Central Station n NYC every day and will see one or two individuals with the mags. They are usually standing out of the way, inorder to avoid eye contact. They seem to want to put in the time, but not much else. It does not seem that they are passing out many magazines. Occassionally I see an agressive pub. When that happens you will see the trash can with a few mags not too far away.

i have been a ministerial servant for 15 years.
after 1994-95 "generation change" and 1999 "being hit by hurricane and no wt/brothers help".
i had serious doubts.
Soon after I decided that this was not the truth and wanted out, I was appointed an elder. The struggle to come to the the realization about the Wt was difficult and I feared form my emotional sanity. So HS in its immense wisdom made the appointment to complicate my life futher. I attempted to not accept the appointment but the elders would not take no for an answer. Later I attempted to resign, same answer. I moved to another state, a letter followed recommending me to be an elder in the new congregation. When the HS makes an appointment it is presistent...
Fortunatally, I was able to say no, and begin the fading and healing process.
on my way home last night from work i ran into a prominent elder from brooklyn.
this guy is always featured at circuit assemblies and his family was presented as the model witiness family in the 80's.
well imagine my shock and surprise when i realized that this dub had just bought a lottery ticket.
I live in Brooklyn, perhaps I know him. (Who knows, perhaps I know you) He may, in fact be the compliance officer errr..elder that came to visit me last week to hassle me because I have not been at a meeting in months.

I remember when I first started to fade while still an elder I was struggling with my sanity to such a degree that I could not even think about injecting independent thinking into my parts. However, it should have been clear that when I was saying the words about paradise, truth and etc, they were only words. I commend the efforts of DaCheech. I only wish I was able to do a similar act when I had a chance.

When I read this paragraph in the WT I couldn't help but think that numerous lawyers massaged the words before final approval.
The point about "
a report accused Witnesses of vandalizing churches" was clearly put in as a "strawman." The reasoning is that since a reasonable person would not believe that there witnesses vandalize churches at the approval of the WT, then the other accusations must also be false.

the theocratic ministry school, which started in 1943, has to be the most boring and dullest meeting of the 5 weekly meetings that witnesses have to attend.
this is also probably the least attended meeting, with the book study group coming in a close second.
having sat through possibly a thousand of these monotnous meetings, i wonder how anyone can possibly be excited about joinging the tms.
I would place the meeting in the following order from most horrible to least horrible:
Wt Study - Boring, boring, boring. What else can I say.
TM School - Although I enjoyed giving talks, some talks were tedious. Especially the #2 bible reading.
Public Talk - They all follow a very strict outline format so they were easy to give. Not so easy to listen to.
Book Study - As boring as it was at least it was only an hour. Plus there might be treats after the study.
Service Meeting - this was always my favorite meeting. Some of the parts were very ad lib - and you could expect a few bizarre moments. You could always guess about what the gossip was based upon the special needs talk. That was always important. Especially when you have no live except for the meetings.
