with the start of the new service year, there are 9 new circuits in the united states branch territory, making a total of 41 new circuits in the last five years.

With the start of the new service year, there are 9 new circuits in the United States branch territory, making a total of 41 new circuits in the last five years. Of these, 22 are Spanish, 11 are English, and 8 are other languages. The United States branch territory now comprises 580 circuits and 45 districts.

What is interesting is what is not mentioned. Increasing circuits only means that boundry lines were changed and some circuits got smaller. However, there was no mention of an increase in the number of congregations or publishers. Since the society is very big on numbers, it seems that if either of these increased, this would be mentioned.

i'm in a situation similar to his, and it sounds like a lot of other husbands here are also, or have been.

I would like to respectfully add to the comments made by CYP. Just to clarify, there are no failures, only a "work in progress." A person need to determine at what point will there be no change in the situation. That determination needs to be made based upon many circumstances, such as family and children. I would never judge a person that they should have done something different.

In my case I did not ever want to regret that I left too soon. Or as my wife stated more than a few times, "you just left the truth so you can leave me."

While I have no problem with the concept of "positive thinking" you need to be aware that in some circumstances all the positive thinking possible will not change basic facts. That being the case, I will be successful, and the success will come exactly when it is earned. I will you the same success in your situation. Good luck.

jeep, I am in a similiar situation. However, it has been for a lot longer. I had my "I no longer want to be a witness" talk with my wife about 12 years ago. I can tell you from experience that it never gets better. We have dmz between us that we both know not to penetrate because the very same arguements will start. If you think you are frustrated now, consider what your life will be like in 10, 15 or 20 years when you finially realize that this is what your marriage will be like for the rest of your life.

I am not prepared to discuss my situation in a public forum. However, if you want to send me an email, I will be happy to respond.

would dubs ever go into field service if there was no record-keeping?

in fact, you could see that everything they do is because there is some sort of record keeping behind it, i.e.

The requirement to "turn in time" is a coercive act to get what they want, which is free sales representation. Unfortunatally the society has not learned that they get what they measure. They measure the amount of time a publisher is out in service. Therefore, the focus of the culture is to maximize the amount of hours. There is no thought about the quality of the time, or if their might be something better to measure.

So, to answer the question. The amount of time wasted in field service would go down greatly. However, if they understood that what they do now is truely wasted time they might actually be more productive.

the local needs talk on thursday discussed a few different things, according to my mom.

but the one that stood out most was that he announced that based on the new book, the elders will be checking on those that have not been associating with the congregation for some time.

they will ask, "do you still want to be a jehovah's witness?

Thanks for the heads up. However, based upon my last conversation with an elder, I do not believe that they have the balls to confront me with such a question. If they do ask the question, they will hear an ear full, from me and my lawyer.

Explain you religion/beliefs in a nutshell

lately i have been pondering my lack of a belief system.

i think that being a jw really turned me off to believing in anything since it was all crammed down my throat.. i have been feeling a need to believe in something.

i think i believe that something created us but not sure if it was one god or many.

I am a non-practicing agnostic. If my present life is the extent of life and there is paradise or heaven, I am happy to be alive.

so i am being announced (the new way) as being df'd tonight.

me and my ex--who wont show up so i will be there all alone.

i am still unsure of how i feel about the whole thing.

You are so so very very lucky. To be 19 and free of that religion is unbelievable. I am truly envious. So what are you going to do. I hope you don't look back. There are so many options now. You can go to college, plan for the future and get a life. Remember:

Did anyone ever notice just how many 30-40 year escapees there are?

i know a lot of young people leave the 'truth'.

but i would never have thought that so many of us with 20, 30, 40 years in would be leaving.

what do you think accounts for that?

I began my escape in my mid thirties. For me that time was significant. While raised in the org, I was facing mid-life totally burned out on the faith with numerous doubts about what I believed. This was compounded by the "generation" change in 1994. I was at a life "crossroad."

The issue was: if I was going to get out I needed to get out soon eoungh so that I could recoup some of my life. While I did an extensive fade, I also went to grad school part time and very agressively persued a career that I could not obtain while being a part of a publishing and real estate development religion.

Ten years later here I am. While I have accomplished a lot, I still have a lot of anger and feel that I am years behind where I should be in my life and career.

For what it is worth, that is my story.

I am a 3rd generation'er. Was a MS for many years and an elder for three years. Started my fade around 1995. Last time in service September 1997, last meeting attended spring 2004. The very last time I ever will talk to an elder fall 2004. Wife still in which has made it difficult and explains the amount of time it took.
