albert d schroeder died yesterday (8th march) at 10.30 est.

he was 94.. no need to book a holiday this summer, barmeygeddon is just around the corner...

Schroeder has been wheelchair bound for quite a long time and was constantly attended to by one or two bethelites. Until recently I would see him in front of the Tower's building with a Wt pinned to his shirt getting his 15 minutes of service in. He has been totally incoherrent for a long time and I am sure had no concept of his surroundings. About 6 months ago when it was a beautiful day in Brooklyn Heights I saw him being pushed around in his wheelchair. I tried to engage him in a conversation and was unable to get him to even look up at me.

I have always heard that deaths occur in 3s. so who are going to be the next two. Isn't Barber about 120 now?

i bumped into a jw at the store the other day.

he doesn't know i'm df'd (apparently) and i didn't decide to enlighten him.

he banged on for a bit about people we both knew, how service was that morning, etc.

i had a chilling experience with a sister sneaky/deceptive this morning at the er where i went for some lab work and to get my eye infection treated.

sister sneaky/deceptive was the one who interviewed me to obtain info to put me in their computer system.

assume you're talking to a faithful, indoctrinated jw that is only now getting some doubts rolling in his head.

let's say that he doesn't have much info yet, hasn't done much research, and is pretty scared of anything that smells "apostate".

Too many people look to connect to something so that they can disregard personal responsibility. At birth, a person gets disconnected from the umbilical cord and then spends the rest of their live trying to connect to something else. It is scary to rely on oneself, but the rewards are great.

When I try to explain this, most people just give me a blank stare.

i have had a quick look and found no references to this, so - here goes..as in the mag we picked up on sunday.. worldwide % increase over 2004 = 1.3%.

memorial partakers 8524 (compared to 8570 in 2004).

most european and nth american lands show pretty static figs - britain 1% increase, canada 0%, germany 0%, france 1%, usa 0%... but spare a thought for the inhabitants of zambia where 1 person in 90 is a reporting witness, must be hell going down to the local market!

Since we do not keep track of that time informal or incidental preaching, it is not required to be reported.

David2002 I think you are distoring the reality somewhat. I have always been told that informal witnessing should be counted. In fact, publishers were encouraged to keep a daily log of the time spent in the informal witnessing.

This not just a casual comment at Morning Worship but a lecture from two GB members that they would begin sending people home right away.

Monday night Bethel family Wt study was shortened and two GB gave lectures. A family member and his crazy wife attended the study/talk. He stated that the brother indicated that the activity in Brooklyn was "winding down." I was not successful in asking follow up questions. Apparently they did not view me as spiritual enough to receive any additional details.

Quotes Mirror Sites: Attempt at Making a Single Place to Report Sites

it appears that the work around for the quotes site will be a long term effort.

as the wt plays whack-a-mole with the new sites that pop up, we need to know where the new ones pop up.. so here is my attempt to bring some order to this process.

let's make this a running thread where we put all our links to the mirror sites.. the downside is that the wt will know where to go to find out where the new sites are they have to squash.. the upside is that it is alot easier to put a site up then it is for the wt to take them down!!!.

Eventually they are going to mess with the wrong cat, it will go to court, and it won't matter anymore because they will lose. How the hell can it be a copyright infringement to display the crap that they run around trying to give to people in their pajamas on saturday mornings!

I predict that there will soon be someone who steps forward and set up this website with the expressed purpose of taking it to court. This sounds like something that an ACLU lawyer would be very interested in.
