A person can generally get into trouble by espousing generalizations.
That being said, if a person plans his or her college education correctly and invests wisely there is a higher probability to success. Education has been a very valuable asset to me and to many people I know. But I try to hang around successful people so my observations may not replicate those of another person.
i think there is a good chance i'm going to be asked to be the watchtower conductor.
on the one hand, i'll find it quite difficult some weeks having to go along with what is written.
on the other hand, there'll be opportunities to ask controversial questions (within limits).
During the whole time I was an elder I never once conducted the Watchtower. I cannot imagine a worse assignment.
My recommendation based upon years of listening to bad conductors is don't dwell too much on the first 5-10 paragraphs. The reason for the article (aka - the zinger) is usually embedded in the second third of the article. Focus on paragraphs 12-16.
And, never do what I have seen way too many times - spend so much time on the early paragraphs so that you need to dispense with reading the last 5 paragraphs.
The hardest part is remembering people's names.
Always remember a good study is a soon forgotten study. So, my final advice is to be forgettable.

Blondie, I remember when they changed this. I was quite disappointed. This should have been an early wake up call. Too bad I wasted another two decades after this new light.
not sure of the point of telling my story, but just got off the phone with my grandma and i am so angry, stressed and i don't know what else...i guess i just wanted to hear from someone other than my husband that i'm not crazy for my reaction to family interaction.. my condensed story gramatical errors and all :).

i seem to recall that there was an assistance fund set up for insurance on kingdom halls that were essentially set up as insurance.. where you were not to insure the khs by normal insurance companies.does anyone know about this and does any kh claim againt the fund i.e.

How was the insurance paid to the Watchtower? I don't ever remember writing insurance payment checks when I was the account servant.

for those not knowing, atf was a 2005 gilead graduate, bethelite, missionary.
they mean the leadership.

ILove TTAT - I understand exactly your point. People die and that is sad, but their death supports the inevitability that what we were taught was al lie -Period end of discussion.
something happened this week to make me think about this again.. it feels like all bets are off and i really don't know what a good person is anymore.. when i left the jws i was so sure i knew what it meant to be a good person.. this has been revised many times since.. i tend to favour the utilitarian approach, the greatest happiness for the greatest number of people.. sometimes you have to stick your neck out and say this is not good for me no matter what others may feel they need from me.. no idea where i'm going with this maybe this is a breakthrough in my life or maybe that glass of wine was stronger than i thought!.

I am a good person - I am also warm and cuddly.
I was never reproved. I am not aware that I am DF. I had multiple congregation changes towards the end of my career as a jw and jw elder, so if I was DF, I have no idea which congregation to ask for my status.

I always understood the interpretation as individuals who were "of age" and could see and understand the events of 1914. Thus, we are talking about individuals that were at least teenagers in 1914. I know they moved away from that interpretation, but they cannot deny that this was what I was taught when a youth growing up in watchtower land.
