Dazed, great minds think alike. The best quote fro George Carlin:
"He loves you, and He needs money! He always needs money! He's all-powerful, all-perfect, all-knowing, and all-wise, somehow just can't handle money!"

What is the key to free yourself from the Organization?
by suavojr inthey key to free yourself from the organization is having mental clarity of what is happening in relation to the watchtower, inside and out.
their basic concept is that they are god's sole organization on earth.
there really is no basis for anyone to make that statement.

Learning TTATT is just the beginning. There are many within the organization that knows it is a lie but won't or can't leave.
Leaving requires great effort, a plan, and an willingness to accept the ultimate cost of friends and family. Some, unfortunately do not have the tenacity to do what it takes to leave. Don't think this is easy or that I am critical. I learned TTATT young enough to do something about it. Leaving the organization was the hardest thing I have ever done, but the effort was worth it.
In a different situation, age or other constraints, I could easily have decided that it is not worth the effort and simply assimilate into just one more of the walking dead within the organization.

Are you complicit if you stay in?
by mrhhome ini am going to throw down the gaunlet.
those who know the truth but stay in anyways are complicit in actions of the jehovah witness organization.
while i am sympathetic to the very difficult choices that they have to make, their unwillingness to confront the jw enables the organization.. some of you may remember my story.

Once you understand TTATT you realize how scary your situation is. I would never NEVER judge someone who is in this situation.
What you may consider “complicit” may be someone trying to figure out what to do and in the meantime maintaining as close to a normal life as possible.
I have been in that situation and can tell you that an accusation that I might be "complicit" would have probably put me over the edge.
Let's all settle down and understand that this journey is sometimes long and almost always painful. Getting out at the other end is not a guarantee. And then, once you are out you have to deal with the rest of your life.
Instead of accusing someone within the organization that knows TTATT, let's cut them a little slack and acknowledge that this is a journey – and a long one.

I used to count time when I posted to a listserve way back in the day of dial up internet. So, I hope that someone is counting time here. If I knew where to turn in a time splip, I would submit one for myself.

Is College Worth It? Clearly, New Data Say...
by NewYork44M ina new set of income statistics answers those questions quite clearly: yes, college is worth it, and its not even close.
for all the struggles that many young college graduates face, a four-year degree has probably never been more valuable.. here is the article from the new york times:.

Troubled mind, you made an interesting comment:
her Mothers response was, " Well are you going to get a job at McDonalds now? ".......sadly the typical JW mindset that a college education is worthless ......
I have heard too many comments like this; Some were hurlded in my direction. I have no response to such stupidity.

I also know a Master Plumber who makes a VERY nice living.
Everyone needs to chart their own path. I am a great accountant, however I am afraid I would make a terrible master plumber.
Which is kind of the point of education - it gives you options.

TO,
Society is set up in such a way that credentials are critical to your success. In your scenerio, I could learn as much as a Certified Public Accountant by reading to books. However, if I want to sign an audit report, or actually work as an auditor I need the CPA license. To sit for the CPA, I needed 150 hours of college credits. A CPA firm would never consider hiring a person with the book learning - but without the educational credentials. Sorry, I did not make the rules.
I actually disagree you you - education teaches a person to think critically - that is the last thing the Watchtower wants to happen. This is the reason they present college education as a bad thing.
