Is this what Watchtower Studies are like now; Only 18 short paragraphs and controlled to the point where they tell you what scriptures to read? Are the studies still one hour?

I was raised in a family that was "in the truth." Despite this, we always had turkey for Thanksgiving. I can't remember any time that we did not have turkey.

It's My Birthday Today
by pale.emperor intoday is my 34th birthday.
or, my 3rd birthday that i've actually acknowledged seeing as i was raised in the cult.. i woke up this morning to my 4yo running into my room and wishing me a "happy birthday daddy!".
i got a card from my ex-jw brother and i bought myself a birthday gift - a new 50mm lens for my nikon camera (photography is a hobby i took up since leaving the cult).. i dont know about you guys, but birthdays is still something i have to make a conscious effort to acknowledge and enjoy.

What Do You Think Will Be The Next Big Change In The Watchtower?
by minimus ini think there will be a change in the 144000 belief.
too many witnesses think they have a heavenly hope.
maybe 1914 will be discarded too.. what is your watchtower prediction?

The only way to have pioneering as a requirement for being an elder or MS is simply to lower the requirements. I can remember when a pioneer needed 100 hours per month. Before my time, it was higher. Now, it is significantly lower. Keep lowering the bar allows many more to participate. The added benefit is that changing the definition inflates the numbers.
This organization loves numbers, How do you show an increase in pioneers? Simply lower the requirements. Remove the time requirements for pioneer and guess what - Everyone is a pioneer! Yet another sign the end is near!

The Public Talks
by Charles Gillette ini remember when i use to give a number of public talks.
i had a binder with every public talk listed by number in it.
i don't have it anymore.. when i did the fade in 2002 after 33 years a slave since 1969. i destroyed all my watchtower materials and i had a lot.

It is all the same crap, just repackaged. In the mid-90s I had a portfolio of about 10 talks. Most followed a standard formula. I remember going out of town once to give a talk and realized I brought the wrong outline with me. I gave the talk and no one noticed (or cared).
If they have changed it is because of the shortening of time. Aren't public talks now 25 minutes. I think the talks I gave were 45 minutes.

I don't see big changes, rather, incremental changes of omission. They will simply ignore 1914, and soften the distinction between the great crowd and anointed. Combine this with simply not giving the number of partakers, and the problem is solved.
Any major changes will be seen in the legal structure of the organization. The accountants and lawyers will take over.

Can you ever see a time when Govt`s of this world will attempt to abolish all religions ?
by smiddy3 inwe are now in the 21st century of our common era with its insights into the potential of what can be achieved in the near future to benefit mankind for years to come .. the co-operation of governments around the world on so many levels has never been better than it is today and it is at least encouraging to see this .. whether it has to do with the climate , the environment ,food production ,safe water for all ,and the better health for all in the near future, and in the future space exploration.
however the problem today is still religion !
in its many extreme forms that divides us in no ways that politics divide us .. politicians learn how to compromise and work with their opponents for the greater good ,whereas religions don`t.. religions divide humans like no politicians ever did well not to the extremes religions will go anyway.. is their going to come a time in history when governments politicians say enough is enough and try attempt to abolish religion ?.

I never understood what "abolish" means in this context. Other than removing the tax status (which they should), what else can the government do?
The basis of religion is individual beliefs. The government has no ability to change individual beliefs.
