Great thread. I don't know why I missed it until today.
Does anyone remember when microphone handling became a means of control over the young brothers? I remember way way back (mid 1960s) that my sister and her cronies used to pass the mike. Later when the boys took over and we used to pick and chose who could pass and the schedule. The decision had nothing to do with hours of field service. This was long before the elders got involved.
Later in life as a MS and elder, the secretary use to print out the "time" report and review the list with the microphone attendant to determine who could and could not pass.
