I know of several witnesses who committed suicide. I never attempted. However, I clearly suffere depression while I was a witness. I do not have this problem now that I am out.

Suicide
by Nicolas ini know it's a touchy subject, but anyone here has ever thought of suicide while they were still in the organization?
it seem to me that jehovah's witnesses have a much higher rate of suicide than the rest of the population.
i contemplated suicide myself when i was struggling to get piece of my life back together after being raised as a "perfect little jw" when i was young.

What Birth Sign Were You Born Under ?
by flipper indidn't know if this has been addressed before , but it's kinda interesting.
when we were witnesses we were always told,oh!
don't look at horoscopes or read anything about your sign because it's demonized !

The only thing I keep track of is that I was born in the "year of the rooster."
http://www.c-c-c.org/chineseculture/zodiac/Rooster.htm
It may be that the years they pick match key years in a person's live. In any event, I am a firm believer in this 12 year cycle.

Why can't Witnesses Gamble? There's nothing in the bible about it!!!
by Witness 007 inif caught in any form of gambling you will be disfellowshiped!!!!!
the principles are "gambling is greedy and selfish, putting faith in the goddess of good luck.
" this is lame!

The Watchtower wants you to put your money in their contribution boxes instead of gambling. That's the bottom line.
Same thought. Every dollar spent on a lottery ticket or quarter shoved in a slot machine is money not put in the contribution box.

GoverningBody.org is now up.
by James Free inwell, i finally put up the site.
the articles are nothing new - bits from wikipedia etc.
but i hope it will persuade even one 'interested' one to avoid the jw's - and even get an existing member to think.

Nice site. Good luck. I would like to hear about any feedback.
The internet creates a body of information. One site may not turn the corner, but incrementally each site contributes to the ultimate demise of the Watchtower.
You are part of the ultimate success of this cause and should be congratulated.

This will be my first christmas. I hope and pray that there is something pagan about it, because that is the only reason I want a christmas tree and mistletoe. Don't disappoit me. I want christmas because I want pagan. I am through with christianity. I want to have fun for once in my life. Based upon everything I have learned, it is only the pagans that know how to have fun.

Hilarious, Crazy, or Weird Field Service Experiences - Did You Have Some ?
by flipper inhello folks.
i've seen variants of this before on this site , but i've been starting such serious topics lately such as death and non belief in the org.
felt i needed to get some humor out and exhale a bit !

I went to this door. The householder opened the door with the intention of yelling at me for bothering his quiet Saturday morning. Immediately after the door opens the family's pet bird flies out the opened door. He screams and the daughter comes running screaming out the door. The whole morning the man's daughter was walking through the neighborhood crying for her bird and cursing those witnesses who let the bird leave the house.

What was your first car?
by nicolaou inmine was an old fiat 127, i bought it 1983 and it was at least fifteen years old then!
the seats were vinyl and there were no rear seatbelts so i could send my girlfriend and her sister flying with each bend in the road!
it wouldn't go above 55mph and was rattling like rollercoaster when it finally got there.. the rear window fell out and it finally croaked in puff of blue/black smoke.

This is not my first car, but my sister's first car. The time circa 1971 and she decides to buy a 12 year old cadillac from a preacher. The car was cool, but was a piece of junk. Lasted a year or so.
