The Literature Stands

just got a visit from two jw's and i mentioned the literature stands they have now.. i mentioned i walk past their stand they set up in my town every thursday on my way to work.

last week the stand was smaller and i asked why was it smaller.

no answer..... i then said you guys usually go door to door dont you?

However, wasn't the comment made that jehover does a heart condition x-ray of everyone walking by. The literature stands that I observed in busy subway stations in NYC suggests that there is not much hope for the hardened city dwellers.

I am surprised that no one has mentioned the financial crisis beginning in 2007. We have endured a crisis at the scale of the great depression of the 1920s and 30s. This will be discussed and analyzed for many years to come.

I remember a fear that was unique to anything I was familiar with. I had the same unsettling feeling after 9/11 and after the blackout that occurred in the northeast in 2003.

i seem to remember chess was frowned upon by some jws.

As all the smart people leave and migrate to this board, I don't believe the remaining members have sufficient I.Q. to play chess. So, it is a non-issue. Which is why it is no longer a "needs of the congregation" talk.

But I do feel sorry for the young ones who are stuck. They might enjoy a nice game of chess.

Here are two axioms that were so arrogant that I had to take pause:

"the worst witness is better than the best worldly person."

And the one that ended up being the last meeting I attended came from the CO:

"We don't think we have the truth... We KNOWWWWW we have the truth."
