I have a friend on the "inside." He is also very vocal with me about all the faults of the organization.

My friend the 'Super-Dub.'
by joey jojo ini speak semi-regularly to an old friend of mine who i would describe as a super-dub.. he knows i am inactive but over the years i have peppered him with a lot of questions about the org.
that i hoped would make him at least pause and think somewhat rationally about the reality of being a jw in this brave new- post gb 2.0 world.. we have discussed everything from the generation changes, to the u.n. , failed prophecy, flip flops, the reduction in size of the wt magazine, the closing/ consolidation of bethels including lay-offs, jw broadcasting, cart witnessing- etc, etc.. what do i mean by super-dub?
he is a born-in, has missionary parents, he reg.

I would love to believe in god, I really would love to think of a benevolent caretaker of my life and beyond. I just don't see this happening.

I suspect, that they will not publish comprehensive numbers. We will probably only ever see the numbers that are "cherry-picked" for effect.

A week-long elders meeting! Yikes I can't imagine. I sat through a few 2-day meetings. Those were painful beyond any description. By the 3rd day, you will have an audience full of old men sleeping. The noise of the snoring will be deafening.

God is all-powerful, all-perfect, all-knowing, and all-wise, somehow just can't handle money!

God loves you - and he needs your money. So, it is no coincidence that assemblies run at a deficit.

Two coins of little value? Ok! Sure (!)
by purrpurr inlast thursday meeting was the verbal begging bowl item.
in which having told the audience that wt doesn't ask for money... proceeded to then ask for money.. among the usual scriptures cited "honor god with your valuable things" etc was also the widows mite story "she dropped in two coins of little value..".
and it occurred to me, two coins of little value in the uk would be two one penny coins!

I remember when I was accounts servant I would always leave the loose change in the box so the other congregations could fuss with the coins. The other accounts servants also had the other idea. Thus, there were always a few coins that remained indefinitely in the contribution box. Our actions showed that we considered these coins of little value and more of an annoyance than what they were worth.
