Baptism - The Issue of Consent - for children
by Lady Lee inthe issue of consent .
the issue of whether a person has consented to a particular action is a core part of our social relationships whether they be personal or group interactions.
to participate in any social relationship a person must on some level consent to that participation.

Welcome. I have recently found this place as well.
I've been gone for five years. I'm an atheist now. When people ask me about how I live my life without God I say I live by 'human' rules.
Don't kill, because no one has the right to kill you and vise versa. Don't steal. Because no one has the right to steal from you and you from them. Amazing how this follows suit with so many other sins.
Also, I found this about two years ago and I like and live by most of it. It helps me alot. When I read, I feel like life is not as complicated as I make it seem.
I N S T R U C T I O N S F O R L I F E - LIFE by the DALAI LAMA

- Follow the three Rs:
Respect for self
Respect for others and

- Learn the rules so you know how to break them properly.
- Don't let a little dispute injure a great friendship.
- When you realize you've made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.
- Spend some time alone every day.
- Open your arms to change, but don't let go of your values.
- Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.
- Live a good, honorable life. Then when you get older and think back, you'll be able to enjoy it a second time.
- A loving atmosphere in your home is the foundation for your life.
- In disagreements with loved ones, deal only with the current situation. Don't bring up the past.
- Share your knowledge. It's a way to achieve immortality.
- Be gentle with the earth.
- Once a year, go someplace you've never been before.
- Remember that the best relationship is one in which your love for each other exceeds your need for each other.
- Judge your success by what you had to give up in order to get it.

Would you condone abortion?
by haujobbz intoday i questioned my mother about the fact that she told me ?
yrs ago how she lost 2 kids through a miscarriage but then later told me she aborted them, well i didnt know what to say, but then later questioned her about this i asked her why she did it, she told me that she was already bringing up me and my sister and financialy impossible to look after two more kids, well i didnt agree with that reason or any reason to kill the unborn she then said she wasnt in the truth then "huh what difference does that make".
then she gave an illustration of reasons when you should condone abortion and it goes like this, if you were raped and later found out you were pregnant what would you do she seemed to say she would abort it,i said i wouldnt if that happened to my wife i said i would probably end up having it adopted, after all its better than murder.. how has this affected my familys view on abortion i wonder, well i have 5 sisters and 1 more brother, and already my brother in cold blood made his girlfriend abort hers due to the inconvienience, and also my older sister had hers aborted 2 yrs ago because the father didnt want to know with out a hint of regret,so im now starting to see a pattern in my family, whos to blame them or my mother as a role model.. so to cut a long story short do you think killing an unborn child is murder, would you do it under certain scenarios.

Umm. Aside from many obvious flaws in their teachings, I left the Witnesses because of their passing of judgement on me and many others unfairly. Telling me what's loose conduct and what is not. How about you pro-life?
What is more immoral...smoking or an abortion? Abortion you say, then why were so many passed the same judgement for these totally separate sins?
Can you take such a moral stand on this? Can many of us here can pass moral judgements? Who decides what sin is? I can't. I 'sin'. I drink, get high, had sex before I was married, celebrate holidays, have gay friends and I have been known to participate in some minor crimes. (office supplies)
Anyone who does ANY of these things is immoral in some way. No? And if you act immorally, can you judge others?
Again, who decides what's a sin? God you say.... who's?
Not mine.

CAN YOU BE DISFELLOWSHIPPED AND STILL BE EFFECTIVE
by minimus inin view of the fact that bill bowen and others who have supported the silentlambs agenda have been disfellowshipped, do you think this means the end of their effectiveness?
comments on the board suggest that now, jw's won't come forward to bill because witnesses won't want to talk to a disfellowshipped person.
and some have said that this was the reason why they were fighting their disfellowshipping.

I think those you have already come forward will continue to fight. But anyone who had been considering it, and hasn't come forward, will remain silent.

I knew as soon as I posted that, someone would come forth who would be an example.
Indeed I also have friends who were born to teen moms and many friends who are teen moms themselves. A good friend of mine has three kids, from three different dads and she's 21. I took that into account. This is not a black and white issue, nor was my statement intended to be. I guess I was trying to explain why I'm pro-choice instead of just saying it. I do think it's life, but it's not mine. Nor is it mine to raise and care for.

I hope the will to fight back and be strong that you and your husband have, inspire those who need it. And the courage that you and your husband have shown together, be with you all your days.

I got to be honest here people. I know alot of stupid people in this world who really do not deserve to breed. If they choose to end the 'life' of a child, there is a good chance that that child was not going to have a good life anyway. Abortions are usually because of rape, or a spouse cheated, or they are 15 or omeone had a one night stand. They are not usually some loving couple who decide this isn't right and decide to use abortion as a form of birth control. Granted, some of those children might succed. But the fact that there is a percentage of people who are mistakes who become successful doesn't hold any water with me. There is a real statistic that says you might wake up tomorrow in a rain forest.
If you can't handle it and you know it, more power to you. But, as with any difficult decision, learn from your mistake the first time.

"The Bible clearly states that NOTHING that you take into the body defiles it. It's what comes out of the mouth. So you can inhale but you can't exhale."
Question......
How do you see the JW view of blood tranfusions?

BRAIN DEAD KINGDUMB WITNEESES
by minimus init truly amazes me to see how so many jw's are brain dead.
i spent the last few days with some witnesses and they complained about this elder, that congregation, these rules that are enforced in one congregation but not another, how truly boring the meetings are, how holy spirit could not have appointed brother so-and-so.
i heard how an elder in a nearby congregation is really a thief and a liar.

Thank for the welcome. I'm so glad I found this place. I was feeling so alone.
They knew tongue placement because I friend who I had confided in told them. You can only trust yourself.
