Quality of newer membership

on a previous post mamacita29 pointed up the low quality of new jw converts.. is the quality falling even more as the society use lower than low meeting, talks, broadcasts etc.. when i was active initially the organisation and standards seemed totally different today.

i have seen hard working intelligent elders fall by death or exhaustion.

the younger generation that came along never really grasped responsibility hence shortage of good elders, never mind the watered down to almost nothing quality of meetings.

I completely agree.

It all started with the book study night got cut. From then on the emphasis on teaching, and creating teachers (especially among MS and Elders) started to become systematically eliminated.

Even from a JW perspective (one with a head on his/her shoulders) has to see that that current meetings have almost no value. Meetings are just horrible in every way. Attendance will continue to drop, people in service will not get better at attracting people with a 6th grade school level or higher. It all seems about keeping power over those already baptized and getting kids baptized.

The Book Tart Carts have very predictably been a giant negative when it comes to conversion of people to the cult. Who the hell would go up to someone at a cart? Just more and more service hrs used in pointless and fruitless causes.

The only people I see getting baptised are older poorly educated women, and some kids.

The end cannot come soon enough.

Love how you could grieve the HS by watching some types of porn, forming clicks, and not listening to elders, but serious sin like adultery, rape, child abuse, fraud.. etc. is not that bad, you can recover from that.

i just left three comments on over there on the article.

when it was first published on thursday it took a while for some comments to show up and when they did there just eleven, which stayed that way for a while.

i noticed today it's up to 43, so i responded to a few folks and left my own.

A philosophical question .... what does the word God mean to you personally ?

to myself it means to seek knowledge and understanding of are selves and the world in which we live.. unfortunately history has shown whenever one tries to connect to god and of his knowledge through men who say they themselves are connected to god through spiritual wifi ie.

gb members of the jehovah's witnesses for example, one usually ends up finding a accumulation of only man's acquired knowledge.

over thousands of years of trying to connect to a god(s) for help and answers, mankind has eventually relinquished himself to seeking answers through scientific investigative acquired knowledge of the world in which we live in.

Did you go to your ASSIGNED congregation?

the rule was (is) that you go to your assigned congregation.. growing up, i think our family was in our assigned congregation only one of three times.

the family made two major moves when i was a kid and each time my folks would visit the various congregations in the area and pick the one with the most kids.

given our association restrictions with the world, they wanted to make sure we had plenty of friends.. i have to give them credit where due.

Just think of the lack of freedom all JWs have. What to wear, say, think, were to meet, what games to play, what movies to watch, who are good friends, what to do on the weekend, what to read, how long your hair should be, how short your skirt can be, how tight your clothing should be, if you can get a boob job or not, what career, what language...... hard to think of other religions who are as controlling.

but - the truth will set you free. really???

Is the reasoning book no longer in use ?

i would like to know if witnesses are still using the reasoning book in the field service.

i am asking about it, because i had read that it is currently out of print, doesn't it??

No formal announcement - but it has gone from being the American Express card (dont leave home without it) To not being mentioned in years. Its all out of date by a decade, and is crap. It is also not getting published anymore.

so, a few years ago my jw parents, my non jw sister and her husband, and myself were discussing religion and jw beliefs.

my parents of course defending the jw's, the rest of us, against jw's ( it may not have been specifically against jw's, maybe just religion in general) anyway, things are getting a little heated, and i finally ask my pops, if the watchtower bible and tract society told you to go out and start killing muslims, would you do it?

yes i would, was his reply, to which i say, then your not any different than the radical muslims killing in the name of religion.

whats so bad about believing people go to heaven?

it occurred to me today, that so often, my mother will make the comment that .

"those false religions teach that everyone is going to heaven when they die, oh sure, .

all you have to do is be a good person, and off you go to heaven.

One issues is that in general people tend to not tackle problems here on good old Earth. Whether its personal issues or desires, or global issues. If you gonna be flying in heaven with lord jesus and his dad, whats the point of fixing things today.
