i was stalking to a jw today about her recent experience on the carts and with being a jw generally.
until this conversation i considered the carts as just an ineffective preaching method and a harmless waste of time.
but now i wonder if the effect of the carts might be to produce noticeable decline in jw numbers.

For sure it HAS and will continue to. The baptism and hrs in service numbers were down last year, and one of the factors is this Cart witnessing crap. It is got to be the least effective way to "preach" they have ever thought of.
P.S. look for the Hrs for Aux Pio to drop since so few people are doing it now. They will want to bolster those numbers:)
there are threads on the content of the rc and reaction of awake jws here, but how are indoctrinated jws reacting to the convention.
my family and i have not attended yet, but i am bracing myself for it.

i was just going through some of my talk outlines and i've decided to git rid of quite a few of them.
i'm still serving, but as time goes on... there are many subjects i will not teach anymore.. i got rid of the outlines dealing with blood, the field ministry, and ones talking about 607 and 1914. i can barely stand hearing them let alone give them.
in fact, talk 41 "stand still and see the salvation of jehovah" is one i got rid of because its whole point was about having blind obedience toward the gb and the elders during the great tribulation, and that we need to start practicing obedience now if we want to survive.
I used to love giving any talk that dealt with history or science. They were almost always butchered by people who barely understood the world was not flat.
But after learning TTATT I stopped giving those in favor or ones that dealt with topics like love - resurrection - love - forgiveness... I took as much of the crap out of them that I could, minimized use of the bible, and used the J word as little as possible.
But it didnt take long before I could not even give those. It was time to get out.
And Most Hated EVER! Were almost every wedding talk and the Dogly view of Sex and Marriage.

i pass along this advice as a new topic, to get it past one off comments that may not get as much attention.. i exited the jehovah's witnesses about a decade ago.
like many, my personal situation felt to restrained to act on my impulse and get out quickly.
i took about a year and a half to two years to leave via da.. i empathize with anybody leaving the watchtower who finds it difficult to falsify dedication, interest, and belief in both their personal and public life.

i came in during all the hype over 1975. the predictions about that date were the real driver behind all their activity.
since then, they haven't had a good goad to prod the sheep.
they seem to be smart enough not to try another date.. i think they plan to use fear instead.
Jeff - of course they are using fear.
But really what I think is going on is this. This is a big push against the internet.
HOW?
1) The end is near - the gestapo is coming - so to be loyal (and have dog on your side) you must - SHUN and keep shunning any who have been DFed.
2) Also all the "loyalty" massive push that is going on is about - DON'T look at anything said on the internet - Don't believe any news reports about Child Abuse in the org.
3) Don't listen to anyone but us.
That's how FEAR works for them.
It's all about keeping those IN - IN.
it looks like i'm going to have to take the watchtower study for a while so i thought i'd seek help.. i wont be outing myself or stating anything too controversial, but so far i have come up with the following tactics : 1) ask questions which will get people thinking even if it is about something insignificant - developing a questioning mind is the key to discovering ttat as far as i am concerned.
2) highlight any extreme points so that some might realise they are extreme.
3) highlight any good points - helping others in need for example - just because it is the right thing to do.. if anyone has any general comments which could help, please post them here.
Only advice you need is - GET OUT FAST. FInd a way to step down dude!
someone suggested the other day that the home bookstudy meeting ended because of 'independent study' groups (in ireland) going 'off the reservation' and left the truth (tm).. has anyone heard of this before?.
does anyone have interesting stories of 'independent study' groups resulting in large scale apostasy?.
