Did others experience this on the ministry or among JWs generally?

sometimes it's hard to know if our own experience of jws was typical and what features were peculiar to our own area or the individual jws we knew personally.

i was wondering if others experienced this among jws:.

a few times on the ministry, when we were working wealthy areas with large houses, some brothers and sisters would make the comment that they look forward to taking ownership of one of these big houses after armageddon, when the worldly people have vacated them.

Yes - mostly when I was younger.
Since for years now its been Pounded into to us that We Wont get to choose where we live or what we do.
That sounds like paradise :) right.

Walking a thin line - Resigning Elder

warning of a long boring post ahead.

i feel like i need to vent my story out, as i feel quite helpless at the moment.. i'm 31 year old, married, father of toddler with another one on the way, due later this month.

i've been serving as elder for about 4 years now in a south florida congregation.

Dude - you don't have to wait for ANY approval of your resignation!!!

You can tell they eders - this is my last day - and that's it!!!!

They can notify the CO and then make the announcement - but that decisions is 100% you - not them!

Nu-light on Heb 4:12 - "Word of God" == God's purpose as expressed in the scriptures

watchtower has historically interpreted heb 4:12 as emphasizing the power of the holy scriptures to bring about changes in an individuals heart and actions.

most christian faiths take the "word of god" to mean jesus and his teachings.. now in the sept 2016 study wt we have new light!

its so clear now!

Father's Day is tomorrow (in the US). Why is it wrong?

i did an examination of the one single article ever to address father's day since it's tomorrow here in the us.

the article covers both mother's day and father's day.

hope it's informative.. examination of “mother and father worship unscriptural”, the only article ever to address father’s day in any publication printed by the watchtower bible and tract society.

Is it common for kids to sacrifice animals on fathers or mothers day?
Though I would not like that - I would be awesome for my kids to build a Temple for me?
Preferably one with a 60 inch TV!

People named after Jesus ? / people named after Jehovah /Yahweh ?

in catholic dominated countries many people are named after the messiah jesus , are their any that are named after his god jehovah / or yahweh ?

anywhere in the world ?.

i have only come across one , in america of all places.. his name was yahweh ben yahweh , and i don`t think he would be used as an example by the wt society.. google him.. has their been anybody else ?

I was in a store a few years ago and heard a woman calling out for "Jehovah" turned out it was her young son.

It was realy realy strange. I feel bad for the kid.

Funny how they stand on both sides of the fence.

When it's good for them they HEAVILY imply that they are inspired.

And then they say they "have no more Holy Spirit (what does that mean anyway) than others of the great crowd.

Always Plausible Denial to suit what they want to say at the time.

When the are wrong (over and over again) they are just men doing gods work as best they can.

When they want you to OBEY - they are gods spirit directed slave class.

the watchtower has always been deceptive in that it kinda says what sounds right - but what it really means is obvious to the rank and file.like in the x-files when the gov keeping "plausible denial" at all times.. this month highlights an article to help parents - "teaching children to obey".. https://www.jw.org/en/publications/magazines/g201505/teach-children-obedience-bible/.

first off that phrase offends me - i know the wt feels children are "arrows" for fathers to aim, and not people who are to be nurtured to become their own unique person making choices that are right for them when they mature.

and - they love the word obey!
