for those of you who can't go to the site, here is the content: .
ibm ceo ginni rometty's letter to the u.s. president-elect.
Trump does not like to read. He will just ask Steve Bannon to summarize it for him, and Steve will say - IBM says you are great and end Obamacare, medicaid, medicare, and end welfare. Also why not kill all the jews while we are at it.
so there was this particular elder in my hall who when giving a prayer would say "jehovah" waaaay to much it was ridiculous, we ended up having a count every time he gave prayer, most of the time it was 15-18 but once he topped 20, if u say it out loud 20 times you'll see how weird it is, like when do you ever in a conversation say someone's name that many times in 2 or so minutes,!
.
OMG! There are 2 elders in my hall (that I don't go to anymore) who said Jehovah all the time in prayer.
It was so strange sounding, and odd, like maybe they thought god didnt know his name? If you did this in regular conversation the person you talked to would thing you were strange.
"Hi Joe, you know I was thinking Joe I would like to do something nice. Joe I know you can help me Joe, but I want to know that you Joe would be interested. Now Joe I know that just because I ask you Joe to help, you may not do it Joe." And on and on.
OMG!!! IT DROVE ME CRAZY.
instead of making a new thread for every little thing related to memorial 2017, i'm going to try to post here.
.
and to start us off.... cart artwork for 2017 memorial invitations.
"Make the Earth Great Again" was there other choice - but were afraid of getting sued.
hi all , because i'm useless and can't be bothered studying, i need some rebuttals for the excuses given in this week's bs , (i love how the acronym matches its origin) my uber dub father pleaded with me to study this week's book study as it addresses my issues with them being directed by holy spirit etc and how jah reveals things progressively , problem is i know there's a great argument to put fwd with proper preparation but i'm onto my 2nd drink of the evening and can't be assed , please unload some smoking guns i can take with me tomorrow .
.
chur.
Ask him WHY would god ever give his people WRONG information? Why would he reveal something he knows is wrong?
Why did it take 100 Years to identify the FDS (the only important thing about 1914-1919? Would that not have been right from the beginning?
If its progressive - why did some many things go back and forth?
i think that few parts of the bible can make you atheist or at least agnostic or at least kill your belief in the bible as infallible or the work of a loving god as comparing 2 samuel 24 with 1 chronicles 21. most people focus on the 1st verse, but there are at least 4 major and 1 minor contradiction in the chapter (they are parallel accounts).in the new world translation, 2 samuel 24 starts like this:.
24 and again the anger of jehovah came to be hot against israel, when one incited david against them, saying: “go, take a count of israel and judah.” .
notice that it is an impersonal "one" who incited david to do the census.
How about this one - Moses is given full credit for writing Deuteronomy.
http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/1200001163
How did he write about his death and burial and how no one knows where his grave it till this day?
Deut 34: 5 After that Moses the servant of Jehovah died there in the land of Moʹab just as Jehovah had said.+ 6 He buried him in the valley in the land of Moʹab, opposite Beth-peʹor, and nobody knows where his grave is down to this day.+ 7 Moses was 120 years old at his death.+ His eyes had not grown dim, and his strength had not departed. 8 The people of Israel wept for Moses on the desert plains of Moʹab for 30 days.+ Then the days of weeping and mourning for Moses were completed.
anyone else hear about this.
as all j-dubs know, whenever someone complains about how long the "new system" is taking too arrive, they use the excuse that jehovah works on his own time.
quite a few times during the public talks, i've heard speakers say the phrase "1000 years to us is only one day to jehovah" (my parents never stop talking about this).
Rest of the scripture says - "a day is like a 1000 years"
So at best the scriptures means time is irrelevant but I have never heard the 2nd half of the scripture mentioned on the platform (except by me).
i remember a roman catholic priest acknowledging on the bbc that the outrageously anti-clerical tv comedy father ted was a humorous mocking of his church but an acceptable thing.. try mocking the jw religion to a believer and the result is so very different.. just why is it that jehovah's witnesses can never take even the faintest hint of criticism of their religion?.
In general - people with weak arguments tend to react emotionally and oftentimes belligerent when challenges.
I dont know a single JW who could use the bible to explain 1914 - overlapping generations - or the scriptural justification for a GB.
i remember a few years back at a circuit assembly, a few bros were introducing themselves to the co, they made sure to mention that they were an ms or an elder from such and such cong.
i was also an ms, but was the only one that introduced themselves by just my first name.
i was so irritated and blown away at the arrogance by these bros, trying to impress men with titles!
I think the announcements at the Conventions and Assemblies is more about adding weight to the words the guy is going to say, and not an ego thing. (By the way its in the instructions for the talks and for the chairman)
Having been a speaker at many conventions, and being involved on different levels, I am pretty shure its not what you are thinking, though you could tell some elders LOVED that, and some did NOT want any attention.
'in order to extend mercy, the committee must be convinced that the wrongdoer has a changed heart condition and that he has a zeal to right the wrong and is absolutely determined to avoid it in the future.'.
shepherd the flock page 91. i remember this is one of the first things that concerned me as an elder because it seemed to sound like a person is guilty until proven innocent rather than 'love believes all things', especially given the word 'convinced' appears in bold.. then in a training video one elder said something like 'unless we are convinced of repentance the shepherd the flock book says we must disfellowship'.
that was the begining of the end for me as i thought surely true christians would reason the other way round and show mercy wherever possible.. any thoughts?.
What it all means is that any Judicial Committee is at best a Coin Toss.
All depends on the Elders you get - the mood they are in - the last Committee they were on - and how good an Actor you are.
