I’ve always wondered why they were still using the ‘Bible Student’ name in the 40’s. The name JW was adopted in 1931, at least in the US. Is it because of the legal name IBSA, or is there another reason?

Interesting bit of JW World War II Trivia.
by Athanasius induring world war ii when the nazis occupied a large section of the western part of the ussr, heinrich himmler considered various methods to help control the indigenous population.
alexander dallin reports in his book german rule in russia 1941-1945—a study of occupation policies, page 616:.
“himmler conceded that the easterners needed some general system of values, but it was madness to spread nazism among them, and to revive the orthodox or to promote the catholic church in the east was dangerous.

Ban on Independent Meetings
by lssjr insource - march 2021 announcements - - https://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/5085868283920384/2021-march-147-english-german-announcements-reminders.
this is a sobering reminder of what happened some 40 years ago when raymond franz and others were literally kicked out from the jehovah's witnesses for having pre-arranged private spiritual discussions.lesson: paragraph 7 is another example of the i and t in dr. steven hassan's bite model of the 21st century cult - information and thought control at its best!!!!
"my gosh, there must be a lot of independent meetings these days.

Paragraph 2:
’even beginning and ending such meetings with prayer’
Wow, its outrageous that they would say this in such a negative context

The Emphatic Diaglott, still being published by the WTB&TS for the benefit of ... NOT JWs but for Christadelphians, Church of God Holiness and Abrahamic Faith folks.
by illoowy inthere are english speaking denominations that actively use the emphatic diaglott.
the wtb&ts is the only publisher providing new printings of this nt interlinear.
the r&f jehovah's witness doesn't use the diaglott (not even the jw version of it "kingdom interlinear translation" that supplanted it).

In the US, when they introduced the donation arrangement in about 1990, the publication of the extraneous books like the Diaglott started to taper off. Before that, the money they charged for them paid at least for the printing cost, but after that, people just wouldn't donate for them. The deluxe NWT, the Diaglott, the KJ and ASV, the Bible in Living English; all that stuff just kind of went away after the inventories were depleted.

What pages were supposed to be cut out of the 1917 The finished mystery?

I used to have a copy of the 1918 court transcripts of Rutherford and associates who went to jail. The offending pages of The Finished Mystery were part of the prosecution's arguments, but only a small part. It was all about 'discouraging the draft'. Anything critical of the war effort, even something like referring to the draftees as 'cannon fodder' was considered illegal under the Espionage Act.

What's up with the demonic avatar?
by Repent inwhy does the j-w forums have a demonic avatar as starting avatar?
why would a biblical religion even consider having demonic images included, in any of their content?.

The avatars keep the demons away, kind of like wind chimes.

Jehovah Witness cult is Anti-christ.... proof seen in the use of BCE/CE instead of AD/BC
by goingthruthemotions inso being around this cult, i always found it interesting that the rest of christianity use ad/bc and the non christians use bce/ce.
i never put two and two together.
but, it dawned on me that once again there is hidden proof that the witness cult is and anti-christ cult.

I recently looked through a reprint of Ussher's Chronology and I am pretty sure he had the date 606 BC for the fall of Jerusalem. His work dated to about 1650.
As an aside, I was simply astounded at the monumental work he produced; it is really impressive for one guy in the 1600's. Many of the dates, etc have been proven incorrect, but it was an impressive work of scholarship for the time.

A Generation Change Again???
by BereanThinker7 ini have heard a few whispers that once again they are going to be changing the generation teaching.
does anybody have on info on this?.

I could see them coming up with a clever way to detach the generation teaching from 1914, so that the 'generation' would have a floating beginning point. Just a thought.

I gave away all my old books quite a few years ago. Maybe I missed my chance to make a few bucks, but I just couldn't stand to look at them anymore

Thanks Was A New Boy for pointing me to google translate.
Got a laugh too! as the auto translate shows:
In “God’s Chosen One”, she and Ida Kårhus told that older men in the panty community asked detailed questions about their sex life.
LOL
