I've done my best to forget it. I truly detested the field service.
I was told, 'Try pioneering for a year, you'll never regret it". Well I did it, and it was awful. I do regret it.
me: selling the wt and awake for 10 cents at 5 years old.
i don't mean to brag or anything, but i sold 'em like hotcakes.
i musta been a cutie at 5 yo.

kim and mikey made a youtube yesterday claiming that a business called watchtower property co. was connected to the watchtower.
they used a recording done by youtuber smurf girl of a call she made to a julie at the company.
i believe the call was doctored as it has her saying that (no) "we're connected to the jehovahs witnesses directly.
Thanks JeffT for your level-headed comments and research. People like to jump on circumstantial evidence to support their already-arrived-at conclusions; it takes careful thought and research to get to the correct answer.

im a watchtower/bible students history nerd.
i find the movement that engulfed my entire family fascinating.
It says it is from 1982. I've never heard of it before, so I am likewise a little curious.
Having multiple people singing while not on mute would be a disaster, with slow connections and echoing. Unworkable to have everyone with live mikes.
They sing along at home with the recording while on mute.
Speaking of dress, they had a local needs on my wife's zoom this week about the zoom meetings being formal and proper meeting attire was recommended. They also kind of came down on brother's having beards on the zoom, which being the US midwest, is seen as improper for some reason.
each eye-opener in my awakening had nothing to do with apostates.
it was always by looking directly at the so-called spiritual food that helped me awaken.. in 2019 they changed the wording of the second of two baptismal questions which are answered aloud before the audience.
now i realize that these questions have been adjusted over the years.
After the 1980-81 purge at Bethel and the later publication of Ray Franz's two books, there were several things which the WT did to do address what they perceived to be issues and to tighten down on further breakaways. One was the change to baptism question 2 to mention the organization. A few others were replacing the AID book with the Insight volumes, the new Organization book, the Unity book, the big Green JW history book (the name escapes me at the moment).

The wording has been changed a couple of times. I'm pretty sure the questions I asserted to in the '70s made no mention of any organization.
my opinion is if possible fading is the best way to go..
I am with jwundubbed. Sending a DA letter implicitly agrees that they have some legal hold on you and that it requires an action on your part to end it. They have no such hold and their supposed basis for it (baptism, which for many was at a teen age) is bogus.

I haven’t watched the videos in question, but from your research I doubt this has any JW connection.
lloyd has a reminder set for a "leaked" video that he will be reviewing tomorrow, but it lacks details in the description.
does anyone know what video he is referring to, or is this an upcoming loyd evans exclusive?.
i find leaks exciting, especially if it's something that was never meant to be public and puts some serious egg on the faces of the blundering body..
I skipped through it. I found the continual interruptions by the commentators to be ineffective. I would have preferred to see the talk in its entirety and leave the comments for the end.
One thing that Splane said I am puzzling over. He read a verse from Matthew 5 in support of 'settling out of court' instead of continuing for a favorable court decision. It just sounds wrong to me. For one thing, he is acknowledging that the news reports that the WT is paying out settlements (presumably for the sex abuse cases), JWs are asking about them, and he is claiming that they are scripturally justified for paying the settlements. But the problem for me is that even if one accepts that the payments are scriptural, they shouldn't be having the cases at all if they just followed the law and reported the abuse cases to the authorities like they are supposed to.
The whole reasoning is just wrong.
