A little off topic, but this thread reminds me of a joke my mom used to tell:
How do we know there is intelligent life in outer space?
Because they haven't contacted us.
you have probably heard all kinds of excuses why god doesn’t communicates with his creation or why he doesn’t intervene.. some examples.. no one can see god because he is a spirit.. but we can hear god---yet he chooses not to talk to humanity.. god only communicates with certain people.
moses, samuel, abraham, etc.
but there are many people today who also claim that god spoke to them yet we ignore them but believe god spoke to people who lived thousands of years ago and we can’t really verify if that was so.

i thought these bible cryptologists were all nuts.
this guy changed my mind..
Most of what he says is pure bunk, in my opinion, but it is interesting. The only thing that maybe has some merit is that the scribes could have possibly used letters from certain words within the text in places, as mnemonic devices or simply to be clever. Some of the Psalms for instance are arranged that each phrase starts with a Hebrew letter in alphabetic order, supposedly so the singers could more easily remember the verses.
sometime within the last 2 weeks, someone took a sledgehammer to the pyramid monument in allegheny.
they stole the topstone, smashed the cross and crown emblem and removed the seal.. personally i'm surprised it lasted this long untouched.
although through the years russell's grave has been vandalized, it was always repaired by the bible students..
Since they seem to have hauled the pyramid off with the pieces mostly intact, I wonder if they have plans to place it somewhere. They have museums now, so I could see them using it for that purpose. They also have a cemetery at WT farms that receives burials periodically, so I guess the monument could end up there.
i just watched a video of an interview with james beverley entitled 'why jehovah's witness are losing members'.
i thought it pretty good, although there are a few misstatements.

When did Russell go to prison?
The poster must have made a typo or misstated. Rutherford was in prison for a period, but never Russell.

Definitely interesting. Not entirely convinced, but curious. There is a 'part 2' (apparently is not posted) which I would like to see.

howdy folks,.
i am interested in learning whether or not the watchtower society is the only religious entity that teaches the "from paradise lost to paradise regained" idea.. the "idea" is that god's original purpose for man and the earth has not changed.
god purposed for adam and eve and their offspring to reproduce and fill the earth and live forever upon it; but the problem of sin entered into the picture and temporarily interrupted that purpose from being completed.

Maybe a little off target, but the title of the JW book Paradise Lost to Paradise Regained is a play on words referring to two classic poems by John Milton.
i remember that i once saw a wt book (or maybe a booklet) which in depicting one or two of the creative days of genesis had illustrations depicting now extinct prehistoric animals.
which publication was that?
i think the illustrations were of a 1950s or 1960s style.. update: i found it.
Good point DJW, just as putting pre-history dinosaurs in drawings along with humans is inaccurate, the drawings of modern species along with the earliest humans (Adam & Eve in the Creationist worldview) is likewise inaccurate. Particularly any domesticated animals which only slightly resemble the wild species from which they have been domesticated over several thousand years.
