I certainly agree that sales clerks are rude sometimes and they shouldn't be, but I am wondering a bit about the OP. Stores have to deal a lot with problems like counterfeit money, shoplifters, even armed robberies, and they probably have instructions on such things. Clever thieves have ways of distracting the staff, for instance placing paper money on the counter and letting it fall onto the floor, and while the staff is bending down to pick it up the thief pockets something, or his accomplice does so. So there might have been something else going on in the OP.

Remembering Rutherford
by Sea Breeze inhe seems to me to be the angriest and most ill-tempered of all the wt presidents, especially after his stint in prison and failed prophecies.. “regarding his misguided statements as to what we could expect in 1925, he [rutherford] once confessed to us at bethel, “i made an ass of myself.”” watchtower 1984 oct 1 p.24.
rutherford died at beth sarim on january 8, 1942, at the age of 72.

Ray Franz in one of his books speaks at some length about the deathbed scene at Beth Sarim. I believe it was Knorr, Covington, and Fred Franz who were there and Rutherford kind of passes the torch (mantle) to them, or so they claimed.
Also, Knorr did very little writing; Fred Franz most likely wrote the book referred to.

Here is the video of Rutherford at Beth Sarim.
This is edited and slowed down in spots, unfortunately, but it is essentially the same I had seen before:

There is a video out there somewhere that shows Rutherford drinking from a glass, and it sure looks like he is inebriated. Maybe someone can provide a link to it.
I don't think Rutherford was any more or less a charlatan than Russell, Franz or any of the others, but I do think that he a shocking disregard for his followers. He instituted doctrines and practices that hurt people, and he didn't seem to care. I believe he intentionally provoked a lot of the legal issues in the '30's and into the '40's just so he could get court cases on the books to establish precedents. Likewise, his deliberate provocation of Hitler in the '30s was a terrible action, ultimately causing the death or incarceration of many of the Bible Students.

Dante's Inferno 1911 film
by dropoffyourkeylee ini just watched a 1911 silent film of dante's inferno, with recently (2016) added soundtrack.
the film was produced in italy, but the captions in this copy are in english.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=brukyhvsvfg.
rather disturbing, to say the least.. curiously, very little of dante's depiction of hell is hot hellfire.

Curiously, very little of Dante's depiction of hell is hot hellfire. In fact in the closing scene, it is a pit of ice. I'm not sure where Dante got that; I don't think it is Catholic doctrine.

Concerning the current WT cemetery at Wallkill, the burials are accessible online:
https://www.findagrave.com/cemetery/2403939/memorial-search?page=1#sr-86507218
Rutherford is not listed there, I don't think this graveyard existed in the '40's. The oldest burial I see is AH MacMillan in '66. Curiously, there are entries for a number of people who haven't died yet, maybe they have gravestones there in advance for some reason. Hmmm.
There have been threads on this site before about Rutherford's burial. If I remember correctly, they wanted to bury him at Beth Shan or Beth Sarim, but the zoning authorities wouldn't allow it. Where he ended up I don't know, but other websites suggest the WT had a cemetery on Staten Island where he was buried.

At one time in my life I thought I would someday write a book about the Rutherford years, and started collecting literature (WT and non-WT) of the time period. I came to believe/theorize that a lot of Rutherford's books can only be understood in the context of the time and knowing what he was trying to accomplish. Much of it had to do with the ongoing battle for the loyalty of the Bible Students, when as many as 75% left the WT for other groups of Bible Students. For one instance of many, the WT rejected Christmas in about 1925. Why? Because it was a time with family members, some with WT loyalty and others who had left, would get together and associate. He wanted to break that association to retain the WT adherents. They rejected the cross in the '20s. Why? Because the cross figured prominently in the Bible Students (the cross and crown pin, Cross on the old WT), and he wanted to distance his WT from them.
In time I kind of lost interest in the subject and dropped the project.
