Keeping House to House Records??? Joe Public

you know when we used to go from house to house and we kept records etc of not at homes and what have you?

surely the general public would be concerned to know that so much personal information is taken and kept by the jw congregations.

anyone else with any views on this?

Do-not-call.org (dnc), are not aiming to bring about the downfall of the Watchtower Society or even in ending it's door to door preaching work.
All members of a free society have the right to worship as well as the freedom of expression to propound that belief to others.
This is not to say however that all forms of worship are either desirable, healthy or advantageous and the freedom Jehovah's Witnesses enjoy to propagate their beliefs needs to be balanced by those with countering views.
Especially in respect of Jehovah's Witnesses doorstep preaching activities, the rights of the preacher need to be weighed against the rights of the householder.
A religious organization granted its freedom to preach in a democracy must respect the wishes of individual members of that democracy should they request not to be called upon.
dnc exist solely to provide the public with an easy means of distancing and protecting themselves and their families from the activities of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Nic' the Dragon Master

Nic' the Dragon Master was an official in the King's court. He had a long-standing obsession-to nuzzle the beautiful Queen's voluptuous breasts. But he knew the penalty for this would be death.

One day he revealed his secret desire to his colleague, Horatio, who was the King's chief physician.

Horatio said "I can arrange it, but I will need 1,000 gold coins to pay bribes".

Nic' the Dragon Master readily agreed.

The next day Horatio made up a batch of itching lotion and poured a little of it into the Queen's brassiere while she was taking a bath. Soon after she dressed the itching commenced and grew in intensity.

Upon being called to the royal chambers, Horatio told the King that only a special saliva, if applied for four hours, would cure this type of itch, and that tests had shown such a saliva was only to be found in Nic' the Dragon Master's mouth.

The King summoned Nic' the Dragon Master and issued the imperial command. Nic' the Dragon Master slipped the antidote to the itching lotion, which Horatio had given him, into his mouth and for the next four hours worked passionately on the Queen's magnificent breasts.

Satisfied, he returned to his chamber and found Horatio demanding payment. However, with his obsession now satisfied, he refused to pay Horatio anything and shooed him away, knowing that Horatio could never report this matter to the King.

The next day, Horatio slipped a massive dose of the same itching lotion into the King's loincloth. And Nic' the Dragon Master was again summoned to the Kings quarters.

CO says 35% inactive

the co visiting a congregation in madison wisconsin told them that 35% are inactive.

i wonder if this is the pattern with most other congregations.

that was about what it was in the last congregation i was in.

didn't the WT make a 'thing' out of the fact that they only count those who preach as members? So if they are not going out preaching then how can they have any % that are inactive?

Inactive = non-member

Should be straightforward shouldn't it. Thanks Simon - I'll have fun with this next CO visit!

Oh the conversations I've had with our elders about meeting attendance figures!

I'll use round numbers.

Congregation has 100 publisher cards.

MEETING ATTENDANCES

Public Talk - 105
Watchtower - 98
T.M.S - 83
Service Meeting - 76
Group Study - 92

Let's just take the Public Talk as an example.
Our elders, and the C.O, would heap praise on us for our more than 100% attendance at that meeting.

Well I called them on it. I pointed out that when my family of 5 attend the meeting we represent only 2 publisher cards (and one is 'inactive'). A certain single sister with three children attends but her family represent only one publisher card.

Apply this logic throughout all families in the congregation and you will soon see that to achieve 100% attendance at the meeting there should in fact be perhaps 180 - 200 individuals sitting in the Kingdom Hall!!

105 individuals represents perhaps 60-65% attendance at best.

They looked at me as though I was Satan himself.

What do you think would be the best way to make it common knowledge?

Unless anyone can afford 'air time' or press advertising rates then I still believe that (big gulp) door to door flyer campaigns can be very effective.

A flyer needs to be short, punchy and to the point.

There's a link at the DNC site marked 'volunteer'. ( http://www.do-not-call.org/volunteer.htm ) You will find there a freely available A5 flyer to print off and distribute. In the UK photocopy rates run down as low as 2p per A4 copy so for example, 5000 A4's would produce 10,000 flyers for £100.

Okay, so we haven't all got 100 quid to blow - how about just starting out with 2 or 300 leaflets just for your neighbourhood?

Also I'd like to ask for some help. I don't actually like my flyer too much, I think there's a lot of wasted space. If anyone would like to re-design the leaflet and email it to me (or post a link here) I'd be more than happy to host it.

TMS is right.

Our congregation had a C.O visit a month ago. There was an audible gasp when he 'informed' us that "over 60% of the congregation were irregular in field service since [his] last visit."

A lot of dubs draw the conclusion that 'Jehovah's spirit isn't with the congregation'. It's the Achan principle, one guy in the cong' must be seriously displeasing Jehovah and that's why he's He's not with us right now!

Heaven forfend that 'irregularity' might actually be down to the individuals involved who aren't going out!! No - it must be the fault of people like Bro Nicolaou. He makes all the brothers feel uneasy. He used to be so strong in the Truth and now he doesn't go out at all. He goes around telling the brothers and sisters to check for themselves what they're learning.

What does he know?

when jws call on people with their unique "good news" the claim is made that this is showing godly love for their neighbors, by comming to their home, without an invitation.. even if the house holder is not interested, they will keep comming back again and again.

The only way to stop them is to request they never come again and maybe, they will stop, but usually not for good, they will still come around from time to time to see if you have changed your mind.
