For me, the shunning of my mother from both of my older sister was definitely something that made think a lot. That's when I discovered this sites and all the other nasty ;-) apostate sites

How many of you get pissed off when somebody asks you one of the following
by SpannerintheWorks inhow many of you get pissed off when somebody asks you one of the following questions?:.
do you go to church?
have you been to the latest sermon/mass/meeting?

No, I don't get pissed off. Usually, I just tell them that I have only one belief and it's called "life". I believe in life as it is and it's enough for me.

what is the meaning of life??
by zen nudist in.
one thing which kept me trapped as a jw far longer than necessary was the fear that if i left and no longer believed, my life would be empty of meaning and futile and ultimately end in a meaningless death.
i could not find any meaning in the world apart from the view jws had imposed upon me... all other ways seemed to lead only to meaninglessness.. but once out and even without a belief in any god[s] i still found my life meaningful but it took several years before i understood my new source of meaning and now see it as the only valid source... i will explain this after i see some of your ideas as i do not wish to bias your answers in advance.

Also, I will add that I don't need any religion. I now have my own religion.... it is called "life" yes to be alive and to be able to watch the rising sun in the morning is enough for me.

Personally, I don't need a special meaning for my life. The life is meaningless and we doesn't have to obey to a god so, let's just have fun with it. Isn't it cool to know we won't burn in a hell or die at Armageddon? I just try to enjoy my life, everyday as it is and try to fully develop my capacities as a human being. As Thomas Jefferson said: "If you don't agree that happiness is the purpose of life then, you are choosing something that isn't happiness as your purpose for living". I also like this sentence from Voltaire "someone said to Voltaire: life is hard. Voltaire replied: compared to what?"

somedays i just want to sit and home a cry all day for all the pain this organization has given me.. i came out from the "world" and came into the "truth.

I might be repeating what azaria is saying but yes, there is a light at the end of a tunnel. You have to keep your faith. Not your faith in a dangerous religion but your faith that life can be beautiful if you decide to appreciate it as it is whitout all the tremendous fear that we have to feel in the Watchtower. Almost two years ago, I was thinking of suicide, I thought that there was no hope for me in this world but now, I learned to enjoy everyday of my life and to don't care of the persons who are judging me. I'm presently studying at a cegep (what you are calling a college in US) and I hope that someday, I will be a social worker.

I'm currently studying in human science and I'm lucky to be one of the rare student with a car. I'll probably make a little travel someday to go out of my routine. I'll send you a private message if I decide to go in Montreal acsot. -

He he he, yes of course, I love poutine (not the president of Russia). During the next winter, I'll probably try the poutine at the Asthon restaurant.
