Odd coincidence between me and JWs...
by brianhenke ini have found out an odd coincidence between me and the witnesses... .
i was born on july 30, 1965. exactly seven years earlier - july 30, 1958 - 7,136 men and women were baptized into the jws (the borg had not been named - yet.
maybe i was fated to study about the witnesses (and talk about it right here.

Watchtower: december 15th 2003 = 2034, Armageddon?
by Nicolas ini read the french version of this watchtower edition and it was clearly suggested that the end might be in 2034... do you have any comment about it?

It wasn't clearly subjected at all but, as usual, they used their twisted words...

i am planning on organizing an organization for jw's.

There is no way I would return to an organization like this even if it's cleaner than the Watchtower. I'm now on this life on my own and I don't need anyone to tell me what to do!

Does the average witness still believe in Armageddon?
by czarofmischief ini havent' been to kingdom hall in over a year, and i haven't talked to any dubs other than my parents for three years now.
i was wondering if anybody still had any contacts in the truth and how the average dub is feeling about the immediacy of armageddon?.
i remember growing up that this was an omnipresent motivation, especially when the whole "peace and security" thing happened in the early nineties, and we were expecting "sudden destruction" after the collapse of the soviet union.. but safe to say, i'm not worried about armageddon anymore - and i was wondering what the feeling was in the congregations.... czar

They think it is near, especially since the terrorist attack of september 2001 because they argue that in the past, we wanted peace but now, we also want security from all the bad terrorist in the world.

For me, the shunning of my mother from both of my older sister was definitely something that made think a lot. That's when I discovered this sites and all the other nasty ;-) apostate sites

How many of you get pissed off when somebody asks you one of the following
by SpannerintheWorks inhow many of you get pissed off when somebody asks you one of the following questions?:.
do you go to church?
have you been to the latest sermon/mass/meeting?
-
Nicolas
No, I don't get pissed off. Usually, I just tell them that I have only one belief and it's called "life". I believe in life as it is and it's enough for me.

what is the meaning of life??
by zen nudist in.
one thing which kept me trapped as a jw far longer than necessary was the fear that if i left and no longer believed, my life would be empty of meaning and futile and ultimately end in a meaningless death.
i could not find any meaning in the world apart from the view jws had imposed upon me... all other ways seemed to lead only to meaninglessness.. but once out and even without a belief in any god[s] i still found my life meaningful but it took several years before i understood my new source of meaning and now see it as the only valid source... i will explain this after i see some of your ideas as i do not wish to bias your answers in advance.

Also, I will add that I don't need any religion. I now have my own religion.... it is called "life" yes to be alive and to be able to watch the rising sun in the morning is enough for me.

Personally, I don't need a special meaning for my life. The life is meaningless and we doesn't have to obey to a god so, let's just have fun with it. Isn't it cool to know we won't burn in a hell or die at Armageddon? I just try to enjoy my life, everyday as it is and try to fully develop my capacities as a human being. As Thomas Jefferson said: "If you don't agree that happiness is the purpose of life then, you are choosing something that isn't happiness as your purpose for living". I also like this sentence from Voltaire "someone said to Voltaire: life is hard. Voltaire replied: compared to what?"
