Does his legal team exist outside his mind? I think so. It is easy to find a lawyer who will take your money knowing you'll lose or your case has no merit. He doesn't care. He's after an "I tried my best" outcome

That his court case will succeed is a vain hope. Even if it did, there will be no repercussions except it would let him 'crow' his innocence. Almost no one will see that as significant, because his character hasn't changed. His case has as much chance of succeeding as a newspaper had of surviving a raging forest fire.

His court case is a joke. Even if he could bribe a judge to find in his favor, it's still a joke. His hope is that he will by some fluke win and he can shout, "SEEE SEEE." No one will take a win as anything but meaningless.
Not only is his case a joke, but he is too. He serves as a distraction from more important things.
His only course from now on is 'flame out' and crash. He'll end up with 100 or so followers whose personality is as defective as his own.
