Dedication of Kingdumb Hall?
by NikL inso my wife who is an active sister got an "invite" to the dedication of the new hall in our town.. apparently it's a big deal 'cuz some big whig from krooklyn is coming to deliver a talk, yada yada yada.. my question, why spend the bucks to fly some old geezer out to the west coast for a building dedication?
is it not officially a kingdumb hall without his coming and having a big ceremony?.
just curious about your thoughts..

I am with you Wokeup. I think that's kind of what I was getting at.
When I asked my wife about who is paying for the geezers trip out she said someone must have payed his way. LOL Yeah every poor old sap in the borg is paying his way.
I also asked what the purpose of dedicating it was. I mean they've been using this hall for most of a year already. She said it was just a way to let all the voluntiers that worked on it get a chance to see the finished product. Sounded kind of like a flimsy excuse to me.
TO top it all off, it's by invite only. You actually have to have a written invite to get in! Who payed to have those printed? What if I just wanted to gatecrash the party? Not that I would want to waste another hour of my life there. I am just curious.

The Russell/Mason debate
by NikL ini have noticed there is some debate on this board about russell and whether he was a mason or not.
some say he is a part of a conspiracy others say it is nonesence.. i am, to be quite honest, not sure where i fit in this.
i do find it interesting that russell is buried under a pyramid in the masonic section of a grave yard.

NikL
Wow.
I forgot about this thread that I started years ago.
I don't care about what anybody says, after seeing and reading what I have seen these past several years, I think Russel WAS a mason and if not, as someone on here said, was very much influenced by their imagery and teachings.
If you don't like it Mad...kiss my a**.

Video: Stand Firm Against the Devil's Crafty Acts!
by Shepherd Book inthere's been a lot of talk on here about the crazy symposium at this spring's circuit assemblies, "stand firm against the devil's crafty acts.
" so, my wife and i decided to attend the assembly, or at least just this symposium anyway.
i recorded the whole symposium.. you can listen to the whole symposium (4 talks, >1 hour) here: http://www.watchtowerletters.com/media/devils_crafty_acts.mp3.

Thanks. I watched the short version. Couldn't take an hour of this drivel.
I was wanting to get a feel of the type of crap the wife will be getting over the coming weekend.
Gosh I hate this crap.

Gave my wife something else to feel guilty about
by JimmyPage inas most of you know my wife was feeling guilty about our pre-marital hanky panky so she got the elders involved and now i guess feels better about it all, yadda yadda yadda.. so now i've opened a previously closed door in our marriage- something i had done in the past with "worldly" girls i dated- but not her.. let's just say it's frowned upon in wt-land but for some reason she's been following me around like a puppy lately.
and she reciprocates.. wonder if she'll be too embarrassed to confess this one.
or too happy.

NikL
Sounds like you are doing something right my friend. She reciprocates too? NICE!

Latest United Nations-End of Religion-End of World alert
by Questions1 init has been awhile since i've posted anything, but i got this e-mail from someone who is on the edge of falling out of the borg due to mental stress.
i've attempted to verify the information, even called the united nations, but haven't gotten to a person who can say if this meeting happened.
my gut says this is a contrived experience with many details just not adding up...but you never know.

Wedding Talks
by Alexia ina few weeks ago, there was a thread started on jw funeral talks and how horrible they are, but what about those wedding talks?.
talks that has nothing to do with the couple itself, but an advertisement about how wonderful marriage in jehovahs organization is.
*eye roll * the worst is when they have to bring up sex in the marriage in a wedding talk *barf*.

NikL
When I was married back in the 80s, the elder that gave the talk promised us it would only be 5-10, minutes...actually more like 45 minutes! My wife and I were so pissed but what could we do?

Back when I read "Crisis" I actually looked up the number of the publisher and imagine my surprise when I was able to talk to Brother Franz myself. We talked for quite a while and answered the questions I asked. A great guy. He has done more service to humanity than he will ever know.
