Well, I never got back to the elder and Thursday came and went with no visit:-)
I appreciate all the comments and support. I'll hold them in my head for next time...god I hope there isn't a next time.
so i got a text from an elder who i consider one of the good guys and a friend in his own way.. he asked if he could bring the co by for a visit.
he said it would be "just a pleasant call and visit and will hopefully encourage my wife".
he says that "he knows she is dealing with a ton of pressure".. in all my years around the organization, i never had a visit from the circuit overseer.

i can still remember the day.
sitting in a theater watching the new star trek flick.. they were searching for god and found him...or did they?.
when this part played before my eyes i literally felt my heart fall.. still powerful after all these years.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xnxvkjav5ik.
I quit! 18 hours ago
So what happened after that NikL? Did you start seeing all the flaws in what you were taught? Did you continue going to meetings?
I still go to meetings with my active JW wife.
I've gone into that before here...https://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/5406409480994816/do-you-still-go-meetings
I am fortunate in that having been NOT attending so long that my wife doesn't expect much from me and is just glad to have me there with her. She is a lovely person but not really a deep thinker if you know what I mean. She just goes with the flow. I think the face that she smokes pot now might help on that score.
I've covered that before too :-)...https://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/4903921795465216/jehovahs-witnesses-marijuana

No NOT new Blondie.
I saw it in theater when it was new.

there are quite a few here who have been disfellowshipped for apostasy.. then there are those that have successfully faded.. why the different outcome?
are the ones that got df more out spoken?
or does the discrepancy lie with the elders?.
We told the elders the same thing, that we will keep our thoughts to ourselves and so far the wife and I have not been df'ed although we are very outspoken about never going back.
I kind of think in the JW mind, being outspoken about NOT going back is completely different than exposing false doctrine...er... I mean tearing down the truth.

I can see nothing in the elders handbook to indicate they must DF someone who is inactive or has left the org in the dust.
Back in the early 90s when it was discovered I had read "Crisis of Conscience", they had a judicial meeting with me but basically told me to keep my thoughts to myself and they would leave me alone. Maybe that was on account of my active JW wife?
Any thoughts?

Well, I put the question to my darling and she asked me how I felt about it as I am "head of the household".
I told her i preferred not to but if she wanted to have them over I would cooperate.
She said she was "good either way".
That tells me she doesn't really want to entertain but doesn't want to say it either. :-)

Well, I think I am going to say I think there are others in far more need of a shepherding call than my wife and I. Several are fighting life threatening conditions in our cong.
I know of a few older single women that are seriously depressed & lonely and would love a nice call.
Unless my wife WANTS them I'll tactfully decline. If they push the issue then I'll KNOW there is something wrong.
In that case I'll not so tactfully decline

Seems to be pretty unanimous that this is a very bad thing.
So virtually NOBODY here thinks this could just be an encouraging visit for my wife who has been under a lot of stress with caring for her mother and poor health?
Yeah, me either I guess.
jws will deny that local needs parts are often just a way to mark those in the congregation who are deemed to be "bad association" or who don't fall in line with the elders viewpoints.
now, for the first time in a long time the wt discusses their marking policy and how it works in the nov study wt:.
recall paul’s counsel regarding disorderly ones in the congregation.
Wow.
Nice catch.
I guess I'll get to listen to this crap when it's presented to the cong. early next year. Happy happy joy joy!
How about the following paragraph which contains..."how troubling it must have been for him to have to address the problem of sexual immorality that was being tolerated in that congregation! Paul directed the elders to hand the immoral man over to Satan—in other words, to disfellowship him".
Funny, I have never seen the scripture that says that!
