Is it just me, or are they getting meaner and more threatening?
It's weird. They'll have an article about how the GB is imperfect and roving about in the darkness then something like this.
I'm not a mental health expert (although I play one on TV) I think they may be suffering from schizophrenia.
for those that still care to read the bible of course.
those that don't, please keep the snarky comments to yourselves :-).
i am assuming nwt is not very popular?.
Thanks everyone.
I'll check out some of those I haven't heard of or used before, namely Jerusalem bible and 2001 translation.
When reading I use my tablet with bible hub app on it and use the feature that lets you have two translations side by side. Using the NET and then if something comes up I want to see differently look at the ERV. Then I'll pop over and look at the NWT to see how it is worded. I'll then look at the kingdom interlinear and see what they say the original Greek was (at least for NT) It's amazing how the NWT has changed so many scriptures into something different than the Greek text, even those in the interlinear! I am feeling like the NWT is an abomination these days.
Needless to say I am moving rather slowly through the scriptures.
in case you were wondering if the governing body we're going to become kinder and gentler, the answer is a big "no!!!
in the current study edition of the wt magazine, the sheeple are reminded of some very important key points.
1) god has an organization ( corporation ) that you must respect.. 2) only the gb/faithful slave can dispense spiritual food and only the gb/faithful slave can interpret the bible.. 3) individual dubs absolutely cannot learn "truth" on their own.. 4) god requires "unity of doctrine.
By obeying the Bible, we keep the congregation clean, peaceful, and united. Ask yourself, ‘Will I be loyal to Jesus and follow the direction of the faithful slave?’
Ugh!

Found it. Was in the wrong article.

I'm not looking for an easy to read version nic...and I do use bible hub AND bible gateway Fernando. They have a great app I use at the meetings :-)
I am just curious which translation people prefer. Just a curiosity thing really.

I am using NET and NRSV mostly but others as well.
I am enjoying reading the scriptures in a way that flows. Nobody inserting a grand name where it wasn't before or clunky words like "exercise Faith" when the original Greek says "believe".
Just curious which translation is getting the love these days.

Some may feel that they can interpret the Bible on their own. However, Jesus has appointed the ‘faithful slave’ to be the only channel for dispensing spiritual food
I can't find that in my copy.
???
one day assembly..jan 1 2017 in central florida....1870 in attendance...13 baptiized (0.6%)...
So what great spiritual food did you come away with?
some time ago, during the mid-week meeting, the sanctification of god’s name was being discussed (chapter 4 in ‘god’s kingdom rules’).
in paragraph nine we read that in the early period the jw’s viewed jesus ransom sacrifice as the most important teaching of the bible.
then they said they gave overbalanced importance to jesus, and nowadays, they say the sanctification of god’s name is the most important thing in the bible.. .
I was at that meeting and those very paragraphs bothered the hell out of me.
I even started a thread about it at the time...

The publications and talks are stressing reading the bible more of late which is interesting. The more I read the bible, the more I find that doesn't jibe with WT doctrine.
