As has been brought out, this is the JWs long standing view of God.
I just NEVER got the memo I guess.
Weird how something like that can slip through the mental cracks.
this is new to me.. i was always taught things like "god is everywhere".. now the folks in warwick are tearing that into shreds with their spiritual enlightenment.. https://www.jw.org/en/bible-teachings/questions/god-omnipresent/.
god is able to see everything and to act anywhere he chooses.
(proverbs 15:3; hebrews 4:13) however, the bible does not teach that god is omnipresent—that is, present everywhere, in all things.

God is able to see everything and to act anywhere he chooses. (Proverbs 15:3; Hebrews 4:13) However, the Bible does not teach that God is omnipresent—that is, present everywhere, in all things. Instead, it shows that he is a person and that he resides in a dwelling place.
God’s form: God is a spirit person. (John 4:24) He is invisible to humans. (John 1:18) Visions of God recorded in the Bible consistently portray him as having a distinct location. He is never depicted as existing everywhere.—Isaiah 6:1, 2; Revelation 4:2, 3, 8.
God’s dwelling place: God resides in the spirit realm, which is distinct from physical creation. Within that realm, God has a “dwelling place in the heavens.” (1 Kings 8:30) The Bible mentions an occasion when spirit creatures “entered to take their station before Jehovah,”* showing that in a sense, God resides at a specific location.—Job 1:6.
What a bunch of nonsense.
He can see everything and act anywhere but is not Omnipresent?
To me that kind of fits the definition.
Why would they feel the need to teach something so...I don't know, laughable?wow.
their 2017 convention programme at times eclipses the horrific shambles of 2016. how hardline can they be?.
its my opinion that the harder they push, the more people they will lose.
I think you might be on the right track desirous.
They are culling out the free thinkers from the herd.
assuming anyone cares :-).

they are releasing another bible story book targeted at kids.. sheesh!

anyway, it jogged my memory and reminded me of something i thought i would pass on to you.back in the late 80s i had the opportunity to chat with ray franz on the phone and i asked him about this very thing.he didn't say yes or no to russel's masonic connection but what he said was something like, "he is buried in the masonic section of the cemetery so draw your own conclusion.

Back in the late 80s I had the opportunity to chat with Ray Franz on the phone and I asked him about this very thing.
He
didn't say yes or no to Russel's Masonic connection but what he said
was something like, "he is buried in the Masonic section of the cemetery
so draw your own conclusion."
I assumed that the answer was
yes since only those with a Masonic connection can be buried in the
Masonic section of the cemetery. My grandparents are interned in such a
segregated spot since he was a 32nd degree Mason.
Anyway, I just though I'd pass that on for what it's worth.
short info on interesting changes to the major conventions this year: there will be a new security concept that will be implemented at all regional conventions in 2017.. similar to other major events (e.g.
festivals, concerts), there will be admittance controls in stadiums.. - at each entrance, there will be a massive presence of attendants that look at each visitor.. - there will be pocket checks at the entrance.. - suspicious persons are no longer left on the convention grounds.. - suppliers to the stadium will be intensively inspected by attendants.. - there will be a special sign for attendants that must enter the stadium before 7.30 am.
all others (even all attendants) can only enter after 7.30 am..
The more I think of this the more I disbelieve it.
They just had a part about the convention and delegates were told to bring their lunch and to keep your coolers out of isles and out of the way etc.
Can you imagine searching all those coolers?
Be cool though cuz it would be my get out of jail free card and I wouldn't have to go.

Geez, is this an American thing where, before anything even happens, people start screaming "my rights, my rights!" ?
They have every right to tell you that you get your bags inspected or you don't come in. And if you force your way in then you are trespassing and they can call the cops and you'd be arrested.
Yes Simon I think it is an "American Thing". I don't think they would have the right in this country. Maybe they do in the UK but not here.
I think as it is a free public event it has to be that. I think discrimination laws ans such come into play. I am not certain though.
I'll tell you this, if they ask to search me I will refuse and happily be sent on my way. :-) I kinda hope they do it.

Thanks to the original poster for this!
Now I am thoroughly depressed thinking about being there though.
Looks so monotonous.
Can't wait till it's over!
maybe it was my mood, but last night the meeting seemed really over the top cultish.. mainly the latter portion that just focused on presentation videos which always seem creepy to me anyway.. then the local needs was pre-empted by a video all about ldc which seemed completely pointless.
(on a side note my wife knew a couple of different people in it).
the congregation "bible" study which dealt with the ever changing cover of the watchtower magazine.

The congregation "bible" study which dealt with the ever changing cover of the Watchtower magazine. No bible study at all again I am afraid.
Then they wrapped it up with one of the older songs that I find offensive. Song 8, "Jehovah Our Strength"
1. Gracious Jehovah, our strength and our might,
You are our Savior, in you we delight. (I thought Jesus was our savior)
We are your Witnesses bearing your news, (I thought it was the good news of the Christ)
Whether men hear or they proudly refuse.
(CHORUS)
Jehovah, our Rock, Our strength and our might,
Your name we make known Both day and night. (I thought it was Jesus name we were to make known)
Glorious Jehovah, Almighty in pow’r,
You are our hiding place; You are our Tow’r.
2. We who now serve you rejoice in your light;
Eyes that are opened now see truth and right.
Searching the Scriptures, we hear your command; (which command is that? Love enemies? Pray for those persecuting you?)
Making our choice, for your Kingdom we stand.
(CHORUS)
Jehovah, our Rock, Our strength and our might,
Your name we make known Both day and night.
Glorious Jehovah, Almighty in pow’r,
You are our hiding place; You are our Tow’r.
3. Gladly, O God, we keep doing your will.
Though Satan mocks us, we’re trusting you still.
Though he may slay us, oh, help us to be
Firm to the end for your grand Sov’reignty.
(CHORUS)
Jehovah, our Rock, Our strength and our might,
Your name we make known Both day and night.
Glorious Jehovah, Almighty in pow’r,
You are our hiding place; You are our Tow’r.
