How Long Out Before They leave You Alone
by tepidpoultry inmany years ago i met an older man in the ministry who told me he was a baptized jw years ago, when i met him he was an alchoholic and had girlfriends, i told the elders, two came by and they told me to treat him as a regular worldly guy, my question is (i know this is a fuzzy area) about how much time needs to go by before someone (me for instance) would be looked upon as a non jw worldly person?.
:0).

I sometimes wonder if it has to do with when you were baptized. Pre or post 1985 when they changed it to a vow to follow the organization.

And the dumbing down continues...
by NikL inmaybe it's complete in light of this sundays wt study...“what you vow, pay”.
it is all about paying your vows and especially focuses on three types.. 1 your dedication vow (baptism).
2 your marriage vow.

Maybe it's complete in light of this Sundays WT study...“What You Vow, Pay”
It is all about paying your vows and especially focuses on three types.
1 Your dedication vow (baptism)
2 Your marriage vow
3 The Vow of Special Full-Time Servants
Here's where the dumbing down part comes in, the theme scripture.
The article quotes Matt 5:33 as “You must pay your vows to Jehovah.”
Remember that one friends?
Hmmm me either!
Let's turn to that in Gods holy word shall we?
What's that? You only have the NWT? No problem for this one.
Matt 5:33
Oh it's Jesus speaking here! Our king and master. Lets see what he says.
It reads...
33 “Again you heard that it was said to those of ancient times: ‘You must not swear without performing,t but you must pay your vows to Jehovah.’
Wow. That's not quite the same thing as they indicate in the article. Why didn't they quote the rest of the scripture?
Lets continue in verses 34-37 to finish our Lords thought...
34 However, I say to you: Do not swear at all, neither by heaven, for it is God’s throne;35 nor by earth, for it is the footstool of his feet; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.36 Do not swear by your head, since you cannot turn one hair white or black.37 Just let your word ‘Yes’ mean yes, your ‘No,’ no, for what goes beyond these is from the wicked one.Say what?!
"Do NOT swear at all? Anything else comes from Satan"?
Well then doesn't that just nullify the whole point of this article?
C'mon Watchtower! Do you really think the rank and file are that stupid as to not see this one? A scripture that we all know so well? It's from the sermon on the mount.
I guess come Sunday we will find out. -

Are Jehovah's Witnesses Mind Numbingly Boring To You?
by minimus ini honestly think they are the most boring people on earth!
even when they produce their so called "new light", there's no excitement.
jws just do their thing and refuse to think about their useless lives.
-
NikL
Yes.
Try to have a decent conversation about the bible.
All the JWs want to talk about is "the slave" this and "the slave" that and "Aren't we glad to be a part of Jahs org.?"
"You can sure feel it. The end is so close".
Yes freaking boring boring BORING!

Another manipulation of scripture in Baptism talk at the 2017 RC
by NikL ini've been looking over the talk outlines for the 201t convention and i came across this in the baptism talk.
go on the offensive against paralyzing fear (7 min.
)[read 1 peter 3:6, and focus on the expression “continue doing goodand do not give in to fear”].

GO ON THE OFFENSIVE AGAINST PARALYZING FEAR (7 min.)
[Read 1 Peter 3:6, and focus on the expression “continue doing good
and do not give in to fear”]To me a blaring example of using part of a scripture to make it seem like it's saying something it's not.
If you look at it in the bible this is part of the admonition Paul was giving wives and has nothing to do with anything in this talk.
5 For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to adorn themselves. They submitted themselves to their own husbands, 6 like Sarah, who obeyed Abraham and called him her lord. You are her daughters if you do what is right and do not give way to fear. (NIV)
I know it's not anything new that they do this.
Just thought I'd throw it out there.

2017 Conventions
by Maryo inin view of the terrorist attacks going on in the world right now, as well as the high degree of animosity towards jehovah's witnesses as a result of their shuning practices, etc., i think it would be wise for the wts to discontinue meeting for large conventions and use live streaming and broadcasts instead.
even with the increased security measures being put in place this year, it would not be surprising if some incidents take place.
has anyone heard any talk in this regard?.

NikL
Oh how I WISH that would happen.
They wouldn't make a buttload of money so I guess that's off the table.

Is God Everywhere, Omnipresent? ACCORDING TO JW.ORG...NO
by NikL inthis is new to me.. i was always taught things like "god is everywhere".. now the folks in warwick are tearing that into shreds with their spiritual enlightenment.. https://www.jw.org/en/bible-teachings/questions/god-omnipresent/.
god is able to see everything and to act anywhere he chooses.
(proverbs 15:3; hebrews 4:13) however, the bible does not teach that god is omnipresent—that is, present everywhere, in all things.

As has been brought out, this is the JWs long standing view of God.
I just NEVER got the memo I guess.
Weird how something like that can slip through the mental cracks.

I was always taught things like "God is everywhere".

https://www.jw.org/en/bible-teachings/questions/god-omnipresent/
God is able to see everything and to act anywhere he chooses. (Proverbs 15:3; Hebrews 4:13) However, the Bible does not teach that God is omnipresent—that is, present everywhere, in all things. Instead, it shows that he is a person and that he resides in a dwelling place.
God’s form: God is a spirit person. (John 4:24) He is invisible to humans. (John 1:18) Visions of God recorded in the Bible consistently portray him as having a distinct location. He is never depicted as existing everywhere.—Isaiah 6:1, 2; Revelation 4:2, 3, 8.
God’s dwelling place: God resides in the spirit realm, which is distinct from physical creation. Within that realm, God has a “dwelling place in the heavens.” (1 Kings 8:30) The Bible mentions an occasion when spirit creatures “entered to take their station before Jehovah,”* showing that in a sense, God resides at a specific location.—Job 1:6.
What a bunch of nonsense.
He can see everything and act anywhere but is not Omnipresent?
To me that kind of fits the definition.
Why would they feel the need to teach something so...I don't know, laughable?
