i find it interesting that the 7/15 watchtower will be studied from september 2-29th and then the annual meeting will be exactly one week after.

Great that you noticed the proximity of the annual meeting timed to coincide with the WT Study.

I wanted to add that " I Feel" that the following video explains why the timing is so close.

Things that are hard to accept, such as the "new light" being turned on in this WT study will be easier to swallow if it is being discussed in the "presence" of others that believe the same way. It would be impossible to get ALL the jws together in one place so they do the next best thing that being to tie them in together via video so the attendees "feel" that they are certainly privileged to be a part of the revealing of the "new light"

I think that just the mind set of being "tied into the main feed, live" gives them feeling of comraderie.

If you check out this video showing the Soloman Asche study it will explain how just being in the presence of others, peers, it promotes one to put away any doubts they may be starting to experience.

When you watch the video, think of the "lone subject" as being a person at this "video tie in" that may be starting to have a hard time believing what they are hearing.

There is a little twist to consider and that is that although the Jws will not hear the "new light" coming from the other Jws, the head knodding in agreement, clapping, excited conversations afterward between the other Jws helps promote the thought from the doubting one that " maybe it is me tht is wrong in my thought, how can all these other Jws be wrong, it must be me that is having a hard time accepting it"

i got to thinking about all the strange interpretations in the old revelation climax book now that i have perused it again on pdf.

does anyone care to toss in their two cents on what are the most outrageous and/or ridiculous claims in it?.

I beleive those stars were based on the Pleides spoken of by Russell. Also found out that that same group of seven stars were used by many a ancient religion in their beliefs.

To add to westiebilly11 comment "Revelation, it's grand climax "in hand" ,... More like premature speculation"

Last night the one cool elder calls me

i figured he was going to arrange the committee and try to get me kicked out after the whole "big pile of books" labelled "take this shit".. well his call made me realize that more and more people ... elders included no longer take this religion seriously.

after he told me he heard what happened he actually laughed and said i would never expect that.

he then told me that it is apparent that i no longer want to be connected to the organization.

I'm not going back...finally

it has been several years since my awakening.

since then i have stopped pioneering, stopped doing temp work at bethel, stopped field service (at the most, i went out a few hours a month for the last couple of months), my meeting attendance has been around 50 percent or so.

i have decided not to go back.

You know what you are doing for yourself is right,.. that alone is a great place to be mentally. It looks like you need to figure out how not to feel guilty and to do that I think that you need to find out why you feel guilty so that you can dismantle the things that push you into that feeling of guilt.

You mentioned that you know what you are doing "is right for me" I would take that a step further and say that it is not only right for you, but should be right for everyone. How can leaving a High Control Group ever be the wrong thing to do? Do you think that, even on the slightest level, that there is something right about the WTBTS? I ask because I wonder if you somehow think that you are doing something wrong where the Jws are somehow correct and that you have failed and just could not take it personally.

I think that we need to view it from a different perspective, we need to view the "still in" jws as being in a whirlpool in a rushing river where you have clawed your way out and are now getting your breath and are trying to figure out a way to throw someone a line to help them get out

I think that the only person guilty in that analogy would be if the person who makes their way out just turns and leaves without at least trying to sar some of the others stuck in that whirlpool.

There is no guilt in trying to justify that you made it out of the whirlpool. Don't feel guilty!

If asked now why I had stopped attending I would want to use this one "If you have to ask, then you are not ready to know" or " I guess me BS detector is set to a higher level of sensitivity than most others"

wanted to share this video regarding the info that could be contained in the pics you may be taking with your smart phone and other devices that have locations services turned on.

seems that your location data could be pulled from some pics and the exact place that the pics were taken shown on a map.

with all the bad guys out there, pedophiles and elders looking to snag a jw, you may want to turn off location services to "off" when it comes to pics you may post of yourself or trips you take.

Christmas

was raised a jw, started fading out about 3 and a half years ago.

i recently had a child, and my in laws are baptist.

they love christmas.

I'm 100% with you Mathaw,.

I see zero need to celebrate something that I know is based on a false religious premise.

I have children who I do not want to get sold into another form of slavery albeit less restrictive than the Jw sentence.

Way would a person burden themselves with such troubles I will never know. Caving into pressure to conform if you ask me.

...i might drop in every now and then but i hope you all enjoy life, escape the watchtower(r) and live prosperous lives.. i can't say i contribute much here anyway (and i'm not attention seeking).. i'm just going to get on with life away from the constant reminder of the mistakes i made being a jw zombie drone.. i guess i'm just going to fade.......rather quickly.. of course i didn't need to make any posts here to disappear but i thought it'd be polite and very british to bid you all a fond farewell.. see you all sometime.....maybe.....maybe not.....maybe....... bye!.

I just thought about how the eskimos or inuits possibly used to take the old and useless persons and put them on a piece of ice alone and send them

off to basically die on the piece of flaoting ice that is seperated from the mainland.

What you are doing is the exact opposite, you have been ON that piece of floating ice seperated from humanity in general and have decided to break off a smaller piece and head for the mainland to live out a good life as you are not used up.
