generally i found most people were pretty apathetic and often surprisingly tolerant , but we've all had some bad ones.
looking back , here were my worst couple of experiences - there probably were others but i've probably long forgotten them or blanked them off.. i was a kid of maybe 13 & it was bitterly cold & pouring with rain.
i was working alone in a middle class street near my school where i knew a lot of my school teachers lived & was scared stiff at every door half the time pretending to press bells , doing the fake knock etc.
Probably about 35 or so years ago my best friend and I were in service out in the country and found a guy that showed some interest and he and his broth asked if we could go over to th firepit and sit down and have a discussion. The firepit consisted of some smooth river rocks laid out in a circle and what was unusual Egyptian paintings on them.
I specifically remember the cross with the loop on top I think is called an Anck. I remember the older brother being on more control of the younger one as he would boss him around.
We were talking our talk and noticed that the older brother was staring at us unusually and looked to be concentrating on us intently. The younger broth kicks in and tells his older brothr to leave us alone An not to mess with us.
I think the oldest brother was trying to put some joo Joo on us somehow with some ancient religion stuff. I'm guessing that was what was going on anyways. Little did he know that jehovah had placed a Ghiza powered force field around us, thanks to CHARLES Taze Russel. , LOL

i'm just curious but has anybody meet some one on jehovahwitness-net who they knew in their jw lives.
just want to hear experiences.
please include the indicators that led up to you identifying each other, and how you eventually revealed yourself.
I ahd asked this question a year or so ago and had one person respond that they recognized their physical brother by the comments he had posted.

wondering what to make of this youtube channel.
looks like it could be put out by wachtower.
http://www.youtube.com/channel/ucn6uoc8oxbgrhqqazu6unsq/videos.
There is a video on youtube where a ex Jw named Kim, called the WTBTS and talked to them about this youtube channel asking them if it was their official channel and the "Brother" said that the WTBTS has zero presence on youtube or Facebook and that the Legal Team of the WTBTS was working toward shutting these channels down as they were in violation of copywrite laws.

do you ever wonder if the watchtower writers actually read the context of their key scriptures?.
they seem intent on perpetuating the idea that the jewish law was divine - perfect.. paragraph two asks the question "what would prompt an israelite slave to forfeit his opportunity.
to be free?".
I agree,.. great catch. I like the application as to how the WTBTS enslaves our family mentally in the same way. On the getting a slave married right away so that he will have children to keep him attached to the master when the 7 years were up, kinda rings of the "Don't marry out side the Lord" and also no sex outside marriage, no self pleasuring etc kinda forces you into wanting to get married asap.

i am just watching my neighbours across the road putting up christmas lights while their children run around bursting with excitement.
i am feeling all christmassy now.
can't wait for my daughter to come home from uni next weekend so we can go and buy a tree from the garden centre.

WHAT,..you mean there's Christmas parties at school?,.. Oh HELL NO they didnt!!! ( just kidding)
But seriously, I did not know how in the world they would be able to do this stuff, with the supposed seperation of church and state.
I would not object to them participating in something in school but for some reason I would object with it being a in house belief system. I'm guessing that the thumbs up for the school party would be viewed more as a "play along for the nod of the masses" where the house version would be "You mean you REALLY beleive this stuff!!"

I know that other main stream religions are not listed as a cult per se but feel that it still insist on a mindset of "You need us as a intercessor for your sins, since you are an imperfect being that needs a god to lean on in hard times and will be there holding your hand when you are feeling down" ( is this a Simon and Garfunkel song, sorry if it is, sounds like one haha)
So I see mainstream religions as not as dangerous to the mind as a cult, but still dangerous in a sense as they "partition" the mind a bit and use some of the resources of the mind that could prevent a person from being all that they can be mentally. I want my and my childrens framework of reality to be in alignment with REALITY as much as possible as I feel that this will allow them to make better unencumbered decisions throughout life.
I want to believe in as many true things, and as few wrong things in life as possible. Since I don't believe in a supreme creator I feel that "going down that road of religious belief" is muddying the water, as it were.
I feel that life can be viewed as looking through a piece of glass. When we were young, we started with a clean piece of glass then the well meaning parents started spattering some muddy water on the glass making it harder to see clearly ahead. I have worked long and hard to get that glass clean enough to realize what my parents etc , well meaning as they were, did to my view of life. I finally was able to clean off my piece of glass and also that of my children. The last thing that I want to do is to start spattering on some other debis into their view that will just make it harder to see clearly the road ahead.
I understand that celebrating Xmas can be a good tool into drawing the kids mentally further away from the teachings of the Jws and letting them enjoy this "swing to the other side of the spectrum" belief wise. I just feel that if it's possible to mentally get them out without having to go there it would be better.
I thought that would be the last analogy, but thought of one more.
Getting surgery to remove a tumor, ( sorry WTBTS, got to go) and afterward the Doctor gives a prescription for the pain but you find out that the prescription can be adidictive for some people. Do you suffer through the pain the days afterward by refusing to take the medication or do you take it to ease the pain for a few days but only to realize that you are now fighting an addiction? I know that this seems kinda harsh to some, but that is how I view it, geting too close to this "fun day" can be mentally entrapping to the mind to just turn into a "sheeple" and just go along with the masses just because that is what the masses think is okay to do.

Frazzeled UBM said " You have a clean slate so you can design your family Xmas celebration from scratch - take what you like and leave the rest as you seem to be doing - and it will help your kids in relating to other kids to join in the Xmas spirit. Cheers and Merry Xmas"
You just had to get that little dig in at the end didn't you? lol
Honestly, for me, I think it is because it has something to do with supposed christianity and you remember the old "Knee bone connected to the leg bone, leg bone connected to the hip bone" jingle, right? I want to be as far from "religion" as possible. I don't even want my kids minds remotely connected to ANY religious holiday due to the mindset that "it's alright to do just this one holiday,.. then just a little bit more and before you know it, they are buying their women some new clothes around easter time."
Slippery slope alert, slippery slope alert!
I opt to have a mind that is as far from that mind numbing celebrations as possible. Kids smiling happy to get gifts, I can do that, kids being allowed to touch and warm up to sugar coated religious celebrations is not what I had in mind when I worked so hard for the last few years getting them clear of one controlling group to see them fall head over heals into another one due to " it being the normal thing to do"
I just don't get sacrificing mental clarity ( I need all I can get lol) for some made up on ramp to religious indoctrination.
Harriet Tubman said "I freed a thousand slaves I could have freed a thousand more if only they knew they were slaves."
I think that it is in a way, being enslaved to something that is not beneficial other than prettiness and gifts is not enough of a trade off for me to open their minds to this celebration that is tied in one way or another to religion. Trying to teach my children not to be "sheeple" and to not tie themselves to something just because everyone else is doing it. I try to teach my kids to be smarter than that and take a look at all it encompasses good and bad before deciding to move forward. Want them to make an informed decision on all things that could mentally be captivating. Moth to the light scenario.
If you dance around enough fires, as pretty as they are, you are likely to fall into one sooner or later.
Not trying to make myself into a martyr here but feel like those that just follow these traditions are not fully thinking it out. I would hate to hear that my childrens children were duped into a cult years from now due to me not being able to inoculate them from religious dogma.
