my pimi wife listens to a lot of the meetings on the phone with the speaker on.

when i am watching tv i hear the meetings in the background.

i just cringe with how a witless can't give a comment without having said jehovah at least two times.

Good point earlier with how do you address your own dad.

They like to use the example of how would you dress or act if let's say you were meeting the president or a judge. We'll, Would you walk up and say his name, Hey Donald... Or would you say MR President? Would you say 'Your Honor' or stand before the judge and call him/her by their first name?

Christian Longo on death row – is he up for a new trial?

for those who don’t remember, longo was a life-long witness (even a one-time ministerial servant) who strangled and/or drowned his wife, mary jane, and their three children, zachery, sadie and madison.

well, yesterday i talked to a woman who works with one of mary jane’s sisters who told me that longo was coming up for a new trial.

He sure did pretend to be one. I knew him and his family. Was in the same Congo and worked at the same place for a while

That must have been the guy when I visited bethel around 1989/1990. Went with a group from my hall, I was 15/16 and without my family there. I remember him mocking us as we walked towards the doors and the heavy sister got his attention and he went off on how busty her sweater was and how it showed off her boobs. 15/16 year old me enjoyed it. He was yelling about her boobies being too big

Have You Been Invited To This Year’s Memorial ?

last year was the first time i didn’t get an invitation to the lord’s evening meal.

i think they finally gave up on me..

I received a text inviting me to go to the memorial about an hour away.

Nothing in print from the local hall about 4 miles away. They did leave a tract in my door about a week before Christmas so I don't expect them back until June at the soonest if they're like most halls I've been in around here.

When you were an active JW, did you ever have dealings with a pyramid scheme?

i'm not sure why this memory popped up, and i was wondering if any others, when they were still active jw had dealings with a pyramid scheme involving other witnesses in the organization?

at the time it was 1993, and my husband and i were still newlyweds.

once in a while, we would attend a neighboring congregation because that was where he grew up, and some of his family was still attending there at the time.

for a while there was this arrangement, based on 2thess:3:14, wherby a talk was given on the service meeting describing a dangerous influence in the congregation, and reference was made to that scripture, thereby indicating to the congregation that this threat exists here, and that you should distance yourselves from anybody fitting that description.

frankly, it bothered me because even if somebody didn't know who was really being referred to, they felt like they might, so the congregation formed little fractures of suspicion.

i wrote to the society because of this divisive effect (that i'm sure wasn't the intended effect; creating a phantom "marked man," breaking up the unity in the cong...etc.).

Positive memories as a JW child..

it is based on gorbatsjov's good topic, but we all must have had nice, pleasant, romantic moments in our congregations.. i was always a dedicated boy, baptized at 14. we had our bookstudy at 8:00 pm and before that our fieldservice at 7:00 pm .

most of times, as a 14-16 years old boy i was the only one there with our conductor.

he was from aruba, immigrated to our cold and wet european country.
