CPS is watching out for the kids. There are red flags in the family. Was there an option for him to leave the home that they rejected? Foster care is not usually the first resort unless there are serious concerns. Did she put her husband before the kids?

Why do ex-JW's talk so much about being ex-JW's?
by Sour Grapes inis it because we were in the cult watchtower compound that we talk about being ex-jw's when we stop being active?
i have never heard anyone say that i was an ex-catholic or an ex-lutheran or an ex-baptist.
they just stop going to their church and don't talk about it.. years after not stepping inside a kingdom hell, many of us still have to talk about being ex-jw's.

This is safe place for many of us to fly our freak flag of being an ex JW. No one else can really understand. I rarely mention it in everyday life. It's a source of shame that I ever accepted the crap, even as a child.

My father also molested my DAUGHTER!
by alamb inneeding advise.
i was on here years ago fighting for custody of my daughters.
the court gave us a joint arrangement.

The WT is not your issue. Your dad, your ex and your mom are monstrous and your daughter should she them until they are penniless and they probably should all be prosecuted criminally. Please put the blame where it belongs.

E cart witnessing on our way to see Shen Yun in San Francisco
by cha ching intoday, i took the day off to go with my husband to san francisco on bart to see shen yun.
coming out of the station, were two elders at a watchtower cart!
my husband loves to witness to them.. started off with a smile and they smiled back and he told them he had been associated with jehovah's witnesses and now he is not but he wishes to tell them that even though they are going to hear things that are upsetting in the news, there is life after jehovah's witnesses.. they smiled and asked him if they could ask what religion he has gone to, or what he is doing now.

Maybe you should get reversible coats of other disguises so after talking to one you can be in disguise (remembering story of JW lady in a country where it was criminal)

So, I'm in a Starbucks. It's 5:45 pm. This kid who is maybe 6 years old yells, "Mom, my tablet is fully charged any my phone is at 84%!"
I am not sure that I had a concept of percentages at that age (beyond knowing my brother got a bigger cookie or drank all of the pop instead of sharing it. )
Is anyone else frequently bemused at the ways in which the world and childhood had changed? My nephew has cheap phones for his one and two year olds to watch cartoons in the car.

By there fruits: The JW's very rarely encourage forgiveness
by goingthruthemotions inby there fruits you can tell a true christian.
well if this is the case, then if you are not blind it is easy to see that the witnesses truly not what they present themselves as.
my wife is a testament to this characteristic.

There are a lot of things that are up to actual narcissism. Some very negative things on their own don't add up to a diagnosis of anything. Being a jerk doesn't require a psychiatric confirmation for it to be true that one is a jerk.

Since leaving the JW Organization, who is believing?
by Issa ini left the jw organization last year during summer.
maybe some of you can relate.
who of you are agnostic or an atheist?

Believers often are eviscerated on this forum. There is not really a place for them here if they express any belief in God. I would leave personal belief out and stick to facts, history, science and evidence-based discussions. Faith is not readily 'tolerated' here.
We have one religion to critique here. Really, that's quite enough to me!

Anxiety, OCD, Hoarding, and the JWs
by Spiral ini'm noticing what seems to be a higher incidence of the above among the local jws than in the "general" (read: worldly) population.
i don't say this lightly, my wanderings around the fringes of jw society locally is revealing an alarming trend here.
the poverty doesn't help (there are good jobs, but you need a degree or qualifications to get one).. anyone else see this?

hoarding's not something I've ever noticed. JWs i knew were all about appearing neat. My mom vacuumed every day and all of the jw ladies I knew were very tidy. . .I didn't peek in closets.
Anxiety- lots. Migraines. Many. My mom had a mild heart attack when in her mid 30s. Lots of alcohol issues all around. One lady was so thin, nervous, fragile-but she was abuse victim. She missed so many meetings. Family always there.
Armageddon was imminent. You spend decades expecting Armageddon/the end of the world and it makes you wonder how ANY of us are still sane. Or if we are.

Did You Go To Meetings in Very Inclement Weather?
by minimus inliving in new england means having lots of snow and cold.
elders were very reluctant to cancel or reschedule a meeting due to the weather.
i lived 3 towns away from the kingdom hall and if it was icy and treacherous my vote would always be to cancel the meeting....and forget about rescheduling!.

We rarely had had enough weather to close the schools, and we lived about a mile from the KH, so we may have missed two meetings in 20 years for weather. . .

How can?
by Gorbatchov inwith all those happy holidays gorby took some time to search in online dutch newspaper archives.
great to see how much information is on the net.. i searchedon the subject jw and many articles, from negatie to positive and all in between came on the screen.. like the blood issue, 1975 worlds end, ray franz incident, former witness, finance, etc etc.. the question i asked myself, is that if there is so much kind of scandals and negative information over the years, how can a person ignore this?.
if it looks like a pig, it smells like a pig and makers the noise of it... it has to be one.. g..

Harvey Weinstein was a major player in all kinds of success in the entertainment industry and he was taken down. So was Kevin Spacey and Matt Lauer. Clearly, eventually, deals made with the devil can become void. There is hope. Timing and subject matter clearly matters. Getting the attention of the public matters. Pissing off a lot of females helps.
This is one little pissante cult. There is a key to bringing them down. . . What is it?
