Why isn't there a "lol" button next to the like and dislike? Some comments don't get as much a +/- response for me, but rather an involuntary chortle due to pure ridiculousness.

What are the JWs saying about Trump?
by Wild_Thing inas much as jws say they are neutral, they can't help but discuss politics and label them as either bad or good and somehow connect it back to their dogma.
i remember hearing them discuss it all the time when i was a jw.
i can't help but wonder what the r&f are saying about trump and the many, many controversial events surrounding him.

Should it be considered sexual harassment?
by Addison0998 inon thing that really makes me angry and disgusted is when i think of the way in the past that the elders pressured me over and over again to have a meeting with them over a petty make out and petting incident.
they asked such instrusive, personal questions like, “did he touch your breast, for how long?
under or over your clothes?” i know that this happens to thousands of people, especially young women, and it’s just not right, it makes me so angry that i almost feel tempted to confront the elder who especially did this, when i see him at the convention in a few weeks and tell him what a sick person he is and how much trauma he caused me, manipulating me and pressuring me to answer such instrusive questions while he sat there and took notes!!

I'd tell him that you hope that the organization has adjusted its policies and have stopped asking (young) people such obtrusive, invasive, inappropriate and potentially litigious questions (where is ok for 3 grown men to ask a young person (or a woman of any age, really) sexually intimate questions? ) Grooming, anyone?
Scare the shit out of him!

Shouldn’t the person who was offended be confronted by the Jw and forgiven if repentant?

Fox Has a 3 Part Series on Hasidic Jews
by minimus inyesterday they started a three part series on hasidic jews living mostly in brooklyn and new jersey and how they take advantage of the system and at the same time rule with an iron hand for bidding the use of modern technology, smart phones, tv etc .
if you think the witnesses are bad, take a look at them.
they ostracize you and kick your children out of their schools and treat you as nonexistent !

I’ve only seen Hasidic people in nyc though I know Orthodox Jews all over. Once went to a convention in nyc or nearby where the assembly was smack dab in the middle of a Hasidic neighborhood. I remember worrying that I was being taken to some JW next level compound (I wasn’t associating of my own desire) That I feared Jonestown then was my wake up call. No family was worth living with that kind of uneasiness.

Why Do People Oppose Jehovah's Witnesses?
by BlackSpirit injesus christ, the son of the most high god, jehovah has this to say: "if the world hates you, you know that it has hated me before it hated you.
if you were part of the world, the world would be fond of what is its own.
now because you are no part of the world, but i have chosen you out of the world, for this reason the world hates you.

Black Spirit,
Your religion actively taught me that loving God was proven by distributing their literature and asking for a donation. That was pure worship. When family members are in hospital, not one congregation member visits, but the blood liason committee shows up more reliably than an ambulance chaser.
This organization actively taught me (,in its prime growth time) that charity was a displacement of our Christian priorities and that there was welfare and food stamps - for our JW needy- while most food banks were in churches and Christian centers, where JWs were not supposed to go.
The WT has totally missed the pure spirit of what Jesus was preaching and it's a shame. If you put as much energy and money into actually benefiting your local communities, you could have amazing growth.

Austria Begins Closing Mosques and Deporting Imams
by cofty inaustria, a member of the eu since 1995, is a country of 8.8 million people with a muslim population of around 600,000 mostly turkish immigrants.
in 2015 it passed an 'islam law' prohibiting foreign funding of religious groups and creating a duty for muslim organisations to have 'a positive fundamental view towards state and society'.. many mosques in austria have continued to receive money from turkish muslim organisations so the new right-wing government have decided to enforce the law.
seven mosques have been identified for closure and 60 imams are to be either deported or refused visas.

It is not required to change ones name when converting, but I’ve noticed that some encourage it. It's not religion but custom in some circles. My friend from work, Cecilia, converted but no one told her to change it. Some have asked if she plans to. She doesn’t.

India prohibits foreign funding of Christian (,maybe non hindu) groups.
Funding or no, any person who is promoting violence in a country should be removed.
I do wonder if they are enforcing this on any smaller Christian groups in Austria or if they will close their eyes to other groups, like perhaps right wing(?) race baiting churches (I know they have groups-are any coming from churches that promote hate groups or Westboro Baptist types? )
