  According to the elders book, there really are NO expectations of confidentiality. The "hints" are no less breaking confidentiality than a priest coming out of confession, telling a law officer that he just spoke to joe blow and the the officer should go look in the padlocked area of the basement and talk to joe blow about it.

  There is no clergy privilege in the WT org and that big in their book is evidence enough. It doesn't stay in JC room. It gets to all congregation elders and then The Branch Office. They try to justify that but once you start telling wife he's an adulterer, leaving out the details doesn't really get you off the hook it breaking confidentiality.

  The poster who wasn't warned about husband probably wasn't because it happened when Jehovah didn't think homosexual cheating counted as actual adulterous relationship. It was in their view, nothing to do with the marriage.

  Hatred From My Children for Not Leaving the Organization Earlier

  i'm not proud of the fact that it took me over 50 years to realized what the organization really was and to finally leave it.

  not proud at all, i feel pretty stupid.

  however i didn't lose my children.

  I left before I had kids or married, but the mindset was still there. I'm shitty at holidays and birthdays. I have a distance with people. I'm skeptical and cynical and still, against my own conscience, I am judgemental. YET I have the inclination to be the devils advocate in many situations. No cognitive dissonance here!

  That has affected my family life and relationships detrimentally.

  I'm not much fun. I really regret that my upbringing turned that switch off in me. That hurt my kids the most and doubtless my husbands lives also.

  I'm sorry that the OP and so many others were affected. Our responses are based in our own life experiences and family. I have other ex JW family members with worse mental health and family cicumstances, but who all adored their entire extended step/half siblings. I wish I understood people. I am so developmentally delayed in relationships!

  i noticed a recent post where it was suggested the store was taken over by hostile means!.

  the person who posted it pretended to have knowledge of why the store changed names but clearly was operating with an agenda!

  one filled with lies, misinformation and deceit!.

  The lawsuit, if true, indicates that it wasn't amicable. Lovely witness indeed. Cheating, extortion, blackmail. It makes me want to attend a meeting. Weight watchers, al anon, toastmasters. . .not a JW meeting! Obviously it's a hotbed of bad morals and poor character.

  there was a french language congregation this weekend in congo dr which had 44,000 in attendance and something like 730 baptized.

  i'm not saying that is good or bad, just reporting the news..

  in late may 2017, i told my parents how i really felt about the religion they had raised me in, and by early june i was out of their house.

  i've done a lot since then.

  i let my hair and beard grow out a bit.

  Phew. I misread and thought you said hospitaized and I worried they could not get care in the about the most difficult place on earth that l can imagine!

  The DRC is one of the most corrupt and crime ridden places on earth. I honestly don’t know that JW growth is the worst thing that could happen in that place. Exception is that they are notorious for being gullible and I could see them as sitting ducks for cons and entirely corrupted bodies of elders who are manipulative and users. Can you imagine the way child abuse and spousal abuse and internal congregational financial crimes will be treated?

  When I was young and brainwashed, I had questions. I asked them all the while assuming I was just missing something obvious that everyone else hadnt. Maybe we left early one night? I missed some key learning in 3rd grade math when we moved school districts. Maybe something similar happened when we went camping or to the fair.

  I figured it was the truth and I was ignorant. That wasn't the case, but so many JWs seem to think it's not an issue with the organization's teaching, but with them. There will never be any substantive response from them, so the only problem is that you aren't as stupid( or gullible) as the WT wants you to believe.
