The real Dracula?
by LoveUniHateExams ini'm a bit of a horror fan - i love horror movies and the novel dracula by bram stoker is a pretty good read - especially the first four chapters, with jonathan harker being in dracula's castle.. i've heard before that stoker based count dracula on a 15th century voivod (prince) of wallachia who went down in history as vlad the impaler - apparently, he was extremely barbaric and cruel, as his name suggests.. vlad's father was also called vlad.
daddy vlad was apparently part of an order of crusader knights, the order of the dragon.
this order was formed to protect christian europe against muslim ottomans/turks.

Thanks Petra!
They are doing this because of IICSA. That's the only reason I can find for them being so much more careful in the U.K. It is about publicity.
No new news here in the mid-west. Memorial invite campaign and meetings still going on! Never mind States of Emergency or National Emergency!
If the public knew their policies in the USA, Australia, etc., they would change their rules to be exactly like the U.K. Hard thing is breaking through to the news.
Or am I missing something? I just can't see why the difference!

Is The Coronavirus As Bad As People Say In Your Opinion?
by minimus ineverything is closing.
food stores are bustling!
no one can gather in big groups.. if you get this virus do you think you will get very very sick and possibly die?

I'm not worried for myself or family. I just don't want to be responsible for killing an older person. It is bad for older people, or those with complex health issues especially heart or lung. Also, the health system can't handle lots of people getting sick. For that reason, we are taking precautions.
There is some really bad math out there trying to make it look like a nothing burger. Like comparing the deaths in the first couple weeks of this thing to a years worth of deaths from the flu and it's complications. That was Eric Berg, DC. Also, I saw a 'Dr" who compared the so called overall 1% death rate to the 1% chance of death over a year for a person who is 65 and said coronavirus is the same. Uh, no it is not. For 65 year olds it is much higher than 1%, plus what about spreading it to some 90 year old grandma who's chances are much worse? Are they throw away now?

Hard to know where to post this, but here goes:
In my area assemblies are cancelled now, but field circus is encouraged with the memorial campaign, no mention of cancelling meetings. No mention of ANY precautions/stoppages. No encouraging of letter writing or phone calling.
It was mentioned at meeting this week that it might be the last memorial! Was that murderous loon trying to encourage attendance? We can only hope it's the last one, ha!
There were a couple more aux pioneers announced last night. Idiots, but their brain is not their own.
A presentation started with talk of how people are concerned about the coronavirus. as you go door to door??? OMG embarrassing.
We were listening from home, of course.
Many older people were there, a few not as old but with cancer, serious lung problems, etc. Again, brainwashed, and risking their life and others.
All of them went down a huge notch in my book.
Their attendance proved they would drink the kool-aid/ take a pill.

"Kingdom Hall dedications postponed until further notice..."
I can't imagine there are ANY scheduled in the USA. Being generous, they are building maybe 5 in the whole country, and taking their sweet time and hundreds more volunteers with multitudes of pointless LDC meetings.
That part of the letter reminded me of a particular jerk of a CO who announced the pioneer meeting for the Pioneers, any Special Pioneers, and Auxiliary Pioneers. He knew damn well the congregation had NO Special Pioneers (and probably never did), he went over the cards that Monday like every CO! But, he probably thought there were some who would be fooled and think: "Oh, do we have Special Pioneers?" or "There must be a lot of congregations with special pioneers because he adds that in the announcement every week."
It also shows the hateful 8 are holed up in their estate(s).
As I told my husband, we should do as they do, not as they say with regard to this virus.

Social distancing and the Memorial
by Kingdavid41 inwith the coronavirus now categorized as a global pandemic and many large gatherings are now social distancing for safety concerns of contacting and spreading the virus.. will the memorial of christ death take place on april 7 2020 worldwide where thousands will gaether in large crowds to commemorate the death of jesus as commanded in the bible.
jesus gave the command to keep doing this in remembrance of him or will sound, reasonableness and good judgment for safety overrule on that special night.
my guess is that it will not be canceled regardless of the frightening and very real pandemic the virus has caused around the world!.

Loved your post Gio, except for: Let's keep in mind that this is not an air born disease but a touch disease.
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/about/transmission.html
https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/317632#Overview-of-airborne-diseases
From that medical News Today article on airborne diseases: "And a person also spreads the disease through their breath, particularly by sneezing and coughing, and through phlegm."
With Kung Flu we have a 6 foot warning because of droplets from coughs. That's airborne enough for me.

Covid-19 (Coronavirus) - Status Update Thread
by Simon inthis topic is to focus on status updates & advice (no opinion or politics please).. status.
latest status is that it's serious, probably isn't going to be contained and most large companies are making contingency plans, cancelling large events etc... which i don't think would happen if it was just people being alarmist.
the incubation period means it may have already spread further and infected many more people than are currently known, so expect jumps in the numbers over the coming days and weeks.. tracking.

Yeah, I didn't mean to say all assemblies are going on, but at least one is, so far, as per the letter Kim read. It seems like it is a bit hands off... if the C.O.s want to do it, let them? IDK.
They do seem to cancel things last minute; it's their bureaucracy of BOEs I assume. We have gone to at least two meetings back when we both were PIMI, just to find out they were cancelled (one was while we were driving to the meeting) and we didn't see the text, email, whatever. They assumed we got the message and didn't make sure anybody responded. They used to call and talk to a person, not anymore. Such love.

Yesterday Kim Brooks read a letter about a circuit assembly or circuit assemblies NOT being cancelled. I assume it was in the U.S.A. So, Bethel has been closed since the 7th at least, but assemblies continue???
Murderous blood guilty hypocrites.
Yet another do as we say, not as we do.
Greedy bastards still wanting their money making scheme to go on.
