  Jonah's success, J-dubs failure in preaching.

  3:1 then the word of the lord came to jonah a second time: 2 “go to the great city of nineveh and proclaim to it the message i give you.”3 jonah obeyed the word of the lord and went to nineveh.

  So I was sitting through the meeting this evening and a thought occurred to me, God blessed Jonah and made his ministry successful when he went to Nineveh, yet how can the dubs claim God is blessing the preaching work they are doing today? Where's the proof? 100,000 hour average hours per new publisher? In just a few days Jonah convinced an entire city to turn around.😳

  Peter did one speech after Jesus death and 3000 were converted in one day. What dub in their right mind can even begin to think that God is blessing the preaching work today?

  after reading the content of the 1 day assembly on another post, please tell me wt are trying to suggest members cant follow super hero movies/characters etc.

  the whole of my ex family wouldnt have a life if this happened!

  surely a wake up call for them....... but doubt it

  The other significant thing about this assembly was the CO's almost constant use of the term "the true God". It was crazy how many times he made reference to Jokeovah being the only true God.

  edit: perhaps it is his way to grind it into the minds of people, much like cults do.

  Being Positive around family that are still in.

  if you are a fader or you have reduced activity markedly - say resigned as a pioneer or an elder or ms or gone inactive and still have some relationship with your immediate family or spouse - how do you stay positive around them when you feel like shaking them out of their stupor but believe deep down it would be counter productive?.

  Personally I steer conversations away from cult topics and I also refuse to use the cult speak. I talk about vacations and the fun times we have with family and possibly some nice places we want to go. Then when they bring up the cult I just change the subject again, keeping it positive maybe bringing up work or asking how their jobs are going or how the car is running. Basically anything positive that has absolutely nothing to do with the cult.

  I'm thinking literal as well Freddo. They add this belief to Jesus baptism possibly to help establish his being Gods son rather than God the son. Not that I'm a believer, I'm more agnostic that is leaning toward atheist these days anyways. The only talking animal I believe ever existed was the famous Mr. Ed.

  when i was an all-in, younger, somewhat uber-dub - i envisioned the governing body as spending 16 to 18 hours a day at the bethel library, with their noses in the bible and associated research books.

  sky-j was propelling his holy spirit directly at them, maybe opening the book to the right page or paragraph, and zap, new light.. when i learned that these dudes only met on wednesday mornings, for as little as 10 minutes, and spent the rest of their time managing and traveling, it was quite a letdown.. anyone have such thoughts of our guardians of doctrine?.

  Splane confusing "generation" with "contemporaries" in the overlapping generation teaching really did it for me.

  These guys are just making it up as they go. Rubber face doing the last part in Elders school was a real let down too. He sure knows how to make people feel stupider doesn't he?

  The money that they make at these conventions is absolutely ridiculous. After the last convention I was really thinking the people would be fed up with the elders giving all the money away to the society but this was one of only two times in 20 years that they donated enough before lunch to more than cover the cost of the convention. And to have already given $10,000 last time? Geez if they only knew where the money was going.
