Some of the things the youths would get into at my old hall were far worse than anything I heard of from non JW's growing up. They are so suppressed and told everything is bad and so naturally they are going to try it for themselves.

Becoming a jw actually made me a much more worldly person.
by lancelink ini was raised a catholic from birth to age 15, that's when my dad started to study with some jw's that came to our door.
i was too young/ naive to notice how my lifelong friends were slowly being replaced with so called " outstanding spiritual youths".. anyway, there was randy and kevin, the sons of the po from the hall, everyone thought that they were the most spiritual people i could hang out with.
these guys taught me the fine points of :.

So on our way to hospital today I see a car load of Jehovah's pull up to a pump a row over. I thought to myself, "Not Now!!" We were running late to NICU and of course these dummy's take this moment to drive up to give us some good news. The thing that makes no sense is I knew one of the people in the car from when we were Jehovah's a year and a half ago. So I'm really surprised they would bother. I don't think this person knows our circumstances on how we walked away, but he had to know I at least knew what they were selling?
Unfortunatly I didn't have the time to get into a discussion with him and with the time ticking, I didn't want to start a conversation I couldn't finish. I'd love to have an arsenal of short topics to get these poor people thinking. Anyone have any tried and true quick topics they discuss with these people to get their gears working?

Wife is home tonight and Izzy is back on vent for now. She just got tired is all. Now she can focus on growing and using those calories to build up muscles that will help her to breathe better on her own.
I guess this is something that happens quite a bit with preemies. They can go back and forth from vent to CPAP. Now she looks a bit more peaceful as she sleeps. Before she really seemed to be struggling and she was crying a lot. So it sucks she is back on vent but I'm glad she is safe and not struggling.

Thank you rebelfighter for the news. Hearing stories of premature babies growing and doing well is very encouraging to hear. I've been sharing these stories with my wife and it really helps fight the negative feeling that go with having such a small baby.
On a side note her parents dropped by unexpectedly to take pictures and when we were there earlier she was receiving a blood transfusion but fortunately it was done when they saw her. That would have made for an interesting conversation. 😬

Just as a side note: if we were still Jehovah's Witnesses she would be gone. The blood transfusions have saved her life. She has greatly improved since receiving them. So to the j-dumbs who say blood kills, they are wrong.

So as of July 2nd my wife delivered by C-section our little one pound, three ounce daughter Izabella. It was a very scary night that started with a decel and turned into multiple decels that greatly concerned the doctors. By early morning they felt the need to take her for her safety. We were really hoping for another week which would greatly increase survival (from a 60% survival to 90% survival) and risk of brain bleed that can lead to things such as cerebral palsy which as of now there is only a 30% chance she will retain normal brain function. As of now she is doing well. Her brain is immature and she has a bleed they cannot find. Possibly the bleed is from Rh-negative issue since my wife has a negative and baby is A Pos. So they have been transfusing her to see if she can keep up her volume.
So far with all these odds against her she is doing well. They are slowly working her off the vent and her levels are looking good. We have been here for rounds so as to get a detailed look at how she is doing and hear the plans for the day. Very crazy and exiting things. Hopefully she is strong like her mother and can get through this. Looking like the end of September for her to go home with us.😁

No go field service days
by Steel init's canada day today and not just any canada day, it's canada's 150 birthday.
for some strange reason i was actually able to reason with my wife day and she agreed with me.
field service on a special day wouldn't be appropriate.

Yea not going out on the holidays in my area was a sure sign of spiritual weakness. So all the brothers especially those who were reaching better be out in failed misery those mornings.
Worse was New Year's Day. People generally wouldn't wake up till slightly later in the morning and here you have two dummy's knocking on your door selling the Bible. 🙄 Christmas was bad enough having to be fast and all. For those who generally enjoyed talking to people at the doors, it took all the urgency out of the message.

Dutch conventions organized like circuits
by Gorbatchov inhere in holland jw.org is organizing for the first time the yearly conventions like circuits.
the whole summer the new convention hall is used for small group conventions instead of 10.000 seat external halls.. it keeps the money in the organization.
not renting external buildings.. the 29.000 witnesses here are divided now into 2.000 seat audience.. g..

These smaller conventions have had a dramatic effect on meeting attendance and help from local brothers before leaving the org a year and some change ago. I could easily pick out a few families that were faithful to the ASSemblies suddenly would be lax on Friday and leave after lunch Sunday. These smaller groups combined with mixing circuits was a big mistake by the ever stupid governing body.

More boring baby stuff and wife's first birthday
by Darkknight757 inhello just giving a quick baby update again.
we went for another growth scan yesterday which marks 26 weeks, 4 days and the genetics dr. felt that we needed to head to hospital for labor and delivery.
so as of now the wife is being monitored and the hope is she can stay until delivery which hopefully will be a few weeks.

She is getting steroid injections for development. Now we are in a semi private room and only monitoring baby once every 8 hours. Dopplers will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Basically they are keeping an eye on blood flow. At the moment there is negative blood flow to the baby and that will probably not improve. Once they deem the baby is at risk they will perform a C-section. Baby is laying transverse and slightly breech at the moment. Hopefully we will be able to get a few more days out of this pregnancy.
