Nice point! Never thought of that as we were going through that study in the magazine yesterday. How nice would it be to gather a few points learned here and on other sites and show the brothers how the society never truly admits error on their part.

Galling Meeting Today! Truly Nauseating!
by Nicholaus Kopernicus infirst scripture used by the public speaker was jeremiah 31:34 - "and they will no more teach each one his companion and each one his brother, saying, know jehovah!
for they will all of them know me, from the least one of them even to the greatest one of them, is the utterance of jehovah.
for i shall forgive their error, and their sin i shall remember no more.immediately, i was distracted.

Then the WT study made it even worse. Paragraph 9 stated: "Humbly acknowledge your limitations and admit your mistakes".

S.A.D. Observations from the assembly.
by Darkknight757 inso we had brother losch visiting our special assembly day which was weird in itself.
he's not a very good speaker and seemed like he was in dire need of a nap or something.. anyways just a few observations from the assembly program.
theme: imitate their faith.

- 15 baptized out of 2500 attendance (0.6%) is actually higher than most we have heard about recently. It's been running about 0.4% to 0.5%.Our circuit is always around 20 every assembly. So for us it's actually a touch lower than normal ,considering we we had about 300 plus our normal attendance.

In connection with the baptism there were 15 of which half were young ones, perhaps 17-14 yr range. The others young adults. -

Interesting regarding costs. I assume this is a JW assembly hall. I don't know what the US costs are but $24,000 sounds like a crazy amount. What was the attendance?
Oh attendance was actually 2500 which was high for a one day. Lots of people having babies though but I'm sure that's not the only reason why it was so high. Usually in our circuit, attendance is high at 2200.

I'm still attending because I'm working on a fade but the reason why I wanted to go because I heard Bro. Losch was going to be there and I wanted to see what the big deal was. Guess there wasn't much of one. -

So we had Brother Losch visiting our special assembly day which was weird in itself. He's not a very good speaker and seemed like he was in dire need of a nap or something.
Anyways just a few observations from the assembly program.

There wasn't much substance to any of the talks. It was quite honestly a waste of a day.
The baptism talk was interesting and something that was pointed out on this board before. The brother mentioned the May 1990 Watchtower which mentions that unless you are baptized Yah may not be listening to your prayers. So it seems to me that this is a way to pressure people to get baptized so they can have that "unrestricted" approach to God. So was Jesus' prayers "restricted" prior to His baptism? I would think not being the Son and all.
Next was the accounts. As was mentioned again on this board, $8000 were sent to the society prior to the convention leaving only $500 in the account. But expenses for this one day were almost $24,000 so the deficit at lunch ($7500) would not have been there if they didn't send all the money to the society.
Finally Brother Losch in his last talk tells young ones that they cannot have friends at school because they are NOT "Jehovah's Witnesses". People who work cannot have friends at work either because they are NOT "Jehovah's Witnesses". So no more having association with people unless they are j-dubs and they must be in good standing of course.
Well that's about it, just thought I post a few thoughts from the S.A.D. which ironically was quite sad.

I almost died laughing at the meeting last night. OMG WTF is going on? Have I been away this long?
by macys inok so most of you guys know already that i am going through the reinstatement process for my parents but i do have a partially sinister plan which i will not mention here since someone told me that there are b-lites that read boards like this.
last night and it was the funniest experience i have ever seen.
besides that the brother doing the sound and video screwed up the whole thing when showing the videos and it took 3 brothers to fix it after 10 minutes, the whole thing was a joke.

Sucks we have our circuit assembly this week so no meeting. Was really wanting to see how bad things would get with the videos and the funny song at the end.
This is probably the only meeting in recent months that I actually WANTED to go to.

General health after learning TTATT
by Darkknight757 in4 months ago i was conducting the watchtower study along with a long list of responsibilities that come with being an elder in a very goofy congregation.
during this time my health was going down hill.
i've always had a low blood pressure,(102/65 or abouts) but for the past year it had creeped up to 135/90 range.. so 2 months ago after learning ttatt, i'm still considered an elder because the brothers won't let me step down, but i haven't done anything in that time except comment once at a meeting a few weeks ago.

That's some story burnedout. Glad to hear you were able to step down and get out before it was too late! -

Interesting article Brokeback. Perhaps it was just coincidence then. I'll have to say that the day-to-day stress of life has been much relieved since knowing what is really going on though. -

Anyways, the wife and I went to the Dr. and what do you know?!! Blood pressure back to 102/69.
So has anyone else experienced better health after mentally/physically leaving the Org?
